i'd put no money into it, dig up a free banana seat, and work on it only when completely drunk and wielding powertools.

Sorry to say but its not worth saving. It wouldn't have been particularly nice when it was brand new and even tonnes of money wouldn't make it any better. Get it weighed in and if you really hanker after a bmx, buy one off the bay or gumtree thats half decent for not a lot of money.
