a ribbed butt plug?

+1 to Ed
look at the faqs on the thomson website
looks like user error if you used ti bolts and they snapped

Yeah you can even micro-adjust the diameter by tightening and loosening the bolts on each 'rib'. Ideal for butts of all sizes.

I have a Thomson seat collar on my MTB and I must concur, it is sweet.
-
• #30632
Where did you get it?
-
• #30633
From the shop where I work/worked. It was an early batch from a Jim Walker rep who was visiting the shop.
Plenty of places have 'em now, though.
-
• #30634
Oh that's well good.
Cheers.

The Thomson you just posted is just a regular elite, in silver with layback. Also readily available

I also want one of these;
got one of these on the road bike to match the seatpost and stem, plus the stock clamp was a bit shite.
-
• #30637
Do you have the stem top cap, though?

Looks shinier than usual. I have a regular silver Elite on my bike and it has a completely different finish.

True, dat. You can see the machining marks on normal Thomsons.
Thomson seat clamp is an inferior design to the kind of generic thing you can pick up for 4.99 from any online shop. Seriously, £18.99 and you still don't get a pivot nut? Slack.

• #30640
what would you go for - salsa?
-
• #30641
Regarding the machining marks on normal Thomsons, yeah. Actually I think you can't see them on Masterpieces? But that one in the picture is an Elite... Hmm...
Salsa clamps and QR levers etc are awesome.

Depends on the build. Those cheap M-Part Threadsaver ones are perfect for almost everything, but I've got a weight weenie Token one on my Look.

I'm not convinced by this... I have to tighten my thomson a lot less than my old clamp, which was like the one you linked to.
Maybe in theory it's not as good, but in practice they've done something right!

• #30644
It's just a bloody seatpost clamp, it's not rocket science!
-
• #30645
Absolutely gorgeous

Thats the inspiration for my current project...
No point in getting a ti bolts, even Thomson themselves don't recommend it on their seatpost.
