Has anyone used one of these clamps for the rear?
I'd be using it to get myself and the bike to the track and don't want to clamp anything to the carbon forks, and I won't do 85" breakless.
I don't know about the brake but I wouldn't ride that gear all the way there - you'll be knackered! I'd get a flip-flop rear wheel if I was you (you could always put a stupidly spinny gear on the other side and fixxie-skid your way down, save on brakes!)

Hey Sean don't you have a double sided hub? I use to flip the wheel when I got to HH

I'd like to know how quick they are to take on and off!?
Mine took me all of 5 mins to set up. Super easy. I imagine once you've got the lever and cabling done it could be a 1.5min jobbie.
Can definitely recommend. Shimano also do one if you're looking for a silver caliper. £50 form tokyofixedgear.

only possible when you have either realllly long trackends or bring a chain with you

Might give the spinny gear idea a go. Maybe swapping the chain ring to a slightly smaller one and increasing the sprocket would allow me to use the same chain.

I need this for my polo bike... Nice one... :]

my surly can go from 46/18 (69GI) to 46/14(89GI), not particularly long. every less tooth adds 1/8" or something. just have to find a lower ratio that means your wheel is slammed.

Just found these http://www.benscycle.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=3748
I've never seen them before, does anyone know a UK/EU retailer for these? -
• #111
Here you go. That's where I got mine from, no problems at all.

those are Dia Compe's tough.
The link I posted is a EAI/Promax set.
60 dollar with lever and both oval and round clamps seems like a good price if it wasn't for the shipping/customs fees. -

Promax schmomax I like mine better.

I fitted a Dia-Compe one to my Fort recently. Bought from TFG and works great. One recommendation I would make (I think I got it form another thread on here) is to put masking tape or similar on your forks before installing the clamps. They are exceedingly frustrating to get on and the tape saves the paintwork form scratches. Once the clamps are on its simple to get the tape off.

^ what he said. Those Dia Compe brake are great.

And worth putting a rubber shim underneath the clamps and leaving them there.

made from? Old inner tube?
-
• #120
Yeah, any thin piece of rubber cut to size (they might even come with them). It's fiddly, but protects the forks when you tighten the clamps.

Has anyone else noticed that on the hubjub picture he has the brake pads pointed down so they are standing like a ballerina on point?
Random point that adds nothing to the thread but still

apologies for the dredge. @unbroken1 did you ever try a clamp on brake on the brooklyn forks?
-
• #123
...no, I spoke to a guy that sells them, he'd a customer who'd tried it and the profile of the forks is too flat/deep for the clamp.
Rode brakeless until very recently when I got the new Clusterfork (in Current Projects).
