The problem with getting rid of the original paint job, is that once it's gone, it's gone.
I think it's almost always something ppl regret... and I'm willing to bet (£20 say) that in a year you'll wish you'd left it.
Plus its usually tougher than any after-market jobs. But if you're really bothered just armortex it - the welds are all smoothed so there's no worries about showing up detail.

But the question is, can Max fit Randos without wasting 3 inner tubes?

Hi chaps.
This is my first post, and this is my current project.
I can't live with the Union flag theme so a respray is on the cards.
I was originally going to go for classic pearlescent white with yellow transfers, but now I'm leaning towards pearlescent hot pink slow fade to white, still with yellow logos.
But I'm having a hard time visualising it, do any of you have any cool fade paintjob pics you could send my way?
Frame is circa 1993- a guess, as its made from Reynolds 731, which was only around for a few years. It's getting built up with an entire 'Tout Mavic' 8 speed group which I have been collecting for yonks. Open 4 CD rims, Flite saddle
I couldn't work out how to embed the pic, so if the thumbnail doesn't work here's the link.http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4016/4603450333_711c91a9f5_o.jpg

Ha, yes I can. I think this is the only thing that differentiates me from Scoble. :-)

nice frame, seems a shame to respray, esp over the chrome, personably i like it.
nice fork crown detail, good luck with the build -

Regarding rattlecanning my bike...
I want to rattlecan it so it still has the original paint underneath should I choose to keep it...
Plus I'm not looking for a permanent, flawless finish. Ratty is better.

Max, just sellotape the fucking thing in black electric tape.

duck tape?

I meant masking tape for my chrome stay and ends not the Cannondale track.

Rattlecanning that C'dale matt black is really doable and you can easily touch up chips afterwards - gloss decals and done.
I like it the way it is now, though. -

Cheers.
Yeah it's a piece of piss that's why I want to do it. Chips are no problem.
I like the orginal paint, it's just a bit lairy, I mean come on... Sparkly blue?! That's asking to get nicked.

absurdbird, if you respray that frame, God will drive into your head with a tractor.

Who's this God character? Some bucolic flag lover?
I doubt whether even Terry Dolan would give a shit if I respray my frame. You seriously like that colour scheme?
