  • I recced the route from Eynsford to Eynsford first thing this morning. Potholes are few and far between.

Word of warning. When we hit the fast section on the A20 two thirds into the ride, don't go shooting off the front. You will miss the left turn we take.

Let's keep the group together on this one ls & gs. [/jonnyspeak]

  • I did a five hour turbo session on Sunday

    Gulp. Are you insane?

    Exedown isn't that tough! ;-)

  • He's just gutted cos I burnt him off on my 3-speed Brommie...

Due to poor planning in the last few weeks I'd run out of opportunities to get 100 miles I need under my belt before next Sunday when I attempt the Little Lumpy, and the weather wasn't playing ball, so theoretical miles had to do :(

Haha yes, that hurt the most. I still get the shivers when a brompton commuter gives me The Look on the OKR. But I don't let them get away any more.

It wasn't that bad yesterday morning, very light rain and not much of a wind. You have my respect though, anyone who does 5 hours on a turbo is showing a level of commitment way beyond mine.

  • I would give up cycling after five hours on a turbo.

  • they all are. shame not to see you out there sean. but will catch up with ya real soon

Carpet burn on the arse is pretty interesting...

  • Time on the rollers/turbo is worth double that on the road. So you only needed to ride 50 miles. Massive FAIL :p

I may not be able to turn up with fucking hours to spare like Tim wants, but will be Oystering it, so it shouldn't matter.

Are the readers on the normal ticket barriers?

I've got track league on Wednesday evening, and I'm a year older than when we did the last TNRC, so be gentle with me.

  • BTW, has anyone else seen the forecasts that say it'll be -1 degree by about 10pm?

FFS, jonny, leave the sleeveless vest and cut-off denims at home this time, and wear something insulating.

Well the other 50 can count as hills then. If only someone had mentioned this yesterday... I didn't get around to checking the oyster reader situation down St Mary Cray way yesterday due to the above, but am confident enough in there being some at the other end to go for it.

Based on my tight time situation, would anyone be up for swapping out from the second train to give me an extra 9 minutes to get to Victoria?

  • is there room on the train for one more?

Thanks. And without wishing to sound glib, cheer up. Things could be worse. You could be me.

  • Is this the ride with the rather long hill and longer climbs that i stripped the threads out of my stem last year?

  • That's the one, Justin. :)

  • That's the one, Justin. :)

Thats a nice ride! If anyone else drops out im in for it. Or might ride there and back. Got the day off work and need to ride the newish bike! Oh yeah Tika fell off on this ride and shit me right up at the same time!

  • I rode this one on my actual birthday last year - 7kg lighter, and still a climber.

What I'm saying is, I spent most of my birthday last year on my own.
