The cranks, and the bearings have been used on the old frame by me for a year, I tried pushing them by hand and let them spin without the chain on, they went about 1½ rotation before stopping.. on the Monkey they go 2½ rotations.. So I guess the bearings can't be that much out of alignment.
If they wear out within 6 months I'll get it faced before getting new bearings..
On the street the Karate Monkey already feels much better than my aluminum Focus with shitty Suntour forks.. and it's lighter as well.
