i'm not sure i understand the title of this thread.
they look pretty. that's all they're good for (in London).
they're comfy though, with bullhorns, and were originally designed to enhance the aero tuck position and shorten wheelbase for Time Trials. -

aroused as in ready to flame me for a stupid question....
-
• #4
they're also usually stiffer.
see what i did there?

They're designed for speed and more of an aesthetic idea rather than practical for London. Stiffer is a minority concern unless you're racing to the finish. People debate stiff cranksets and bb's, but it's for pro's rather than the casual rider. As Sr suggested. Do it but don't complain if the love wanes.

Except they aren't faster.. if they were, people would still be using them for racing.
Lo-pro = fail.

does it bite?

Errrrrr what? Any TT road or track will be dominated by low-profiles?
-

Debatable. Some of the curvy ones are far from stiff. The stiffness is probably down to the fact that they were generally bespoke rather than mass produced. A decent track frame will be just as stiff, if not stiffer.

?? lo pro frames? i don't follow

The thread title has genuinely left me speechless.

Low pro actually refers to low-protein. People who don't get enough protein in their diets are generally weak and feeble and tend to 'slump'. Because of this frames are sometimes made with a 'lower' front end that accommodates this slumped position. They are popular amongst vegans and vegetarians. Personally I am such a weak and feeble vegetarian that I now also own a low-pro settee and a low-pro armchair.

so jimjams is pink because of low protein.. kind of makes sense now

Errrr what? When was the last time you saw a lo-pro at a race? There was one at the Aus Masters games a few years ago. That was the last time I saw one used in a real race for 20 years. I don't think you know what a lo-pro is.

when i saw it i thought, "a noob that is easily aroused, he's right, I should take his advice and avoid him".
Why one would want to advertise one's arousal in public is beyond me. People like that need help.I will leave it there.

They just use short headtubes and long seatposts now to get the same aerodynamic effect. [/stating the obvious, but apparently not]

I guess he means all the recent champions. Am I wrong in thinking Cancellara rode lo-pro to the shop in Roubaix for a baguette and some gruyere? I was messing with the aspect ratio on the TV but am open to correction

To be fair, Canchy was doing skids up and down the Mall on his lo pro with riser and spoks after winning the prologue in the 2007 Tour.

'Canchy'.
You're dead to me.

Did you like that? I thought you would.
Hi,
since I am new to the whole bike thing, but been reading around here quiet a lot these days, I have one question that I need cleared up before it drives me nuts! (and yes, I have tried the search function) ((if not properly))
What is a lo-pro (low profile, I`d guess) frame and how does it doffer from "other" frames?
What are the characteristics and riding benefits?
thanks for your patience
