  • The guy on the telly was just saying they got a bigger share of the vote than Tony Blair did in 1997. So how come one results in a Labour landslide, but when it goes the other way it's a hung parliament? I don't get it.

    That's the brilliance (BS) of SMP. Popular vote means fuck all. If you were to win every riding with 1% of the vote (split vote between a 101 candidates), you'd have an absolute majority with 1% of the popular vote (extreme, but illustrates the point).

    In England the Tories have a massive majority. Given that Scotland is highly overrepresented in parliament (far too many constituencies for the number of people) will questions be asked again about that?

    The representation of Scotalnd has no bearing on the popular vote the Conservatives got, and at 36%, I'd say that's not a massive majority (well, it's not a majority full stop).

    And Poplar and Bethnal Green & Bow are concerned about electoral fraud. What a fucking surprise.

    My riding (BG & Bow). Respect had filed complaints before the election day (on postal ballots). Will be interesting to see what happens.
