  • not finished yet, white half link to come, white bars and grips, white pedals, white cages, new stem/quill to ahead conversion.

  • You may want to rethink the white chain. What's wrong with silver?

  • Powdercoat the frame white!

  • They are businesses, they aren't going to do anything for National pride, only for money. Shimano already has a full program of team and equipment sponsorship across the big money areas of road, MTB and BMX, but they support the best athletes regardless of nationality.

The JKA Foundation already spent their promotional budget bribing the UCI and IOC to get Keirin into World and Olympic championships :-)

Dolan support Team GB dont they?

Agreed, any more white bits and you'll regret it. We're just trying to save you some money! It's fine as it is.

  • While fitting a black saddle might cut the whole process short.

OK, you will need a black chain...

  • If you want him to get monoplanars, show him a picture of some.

    thanks for the correction...
    though I don't care what he gets,..;D
if you google images of monoplanars...you get a mixture of the two...though that image is off this site and they were called monoplanars...and organicorigin also seems tot hink so as its a picture of his brake.
are there two types of mono planars...ie earlier/later...
I have some that look like the picture...what are they is they aren't monos?

  • I bought this Joe Waugh off of Leon a month or so ago and after a ride and a chat with him decided to get track ends fitted and therefore a respray.
Sorry, I toned it down a bit mate:-(

Campag, Phil, Mavic, Shimano and Cinelli

This is definitely gonna be my summer bike but of course the moment I finished it yesterday it started raining!

    Leon,
looks like it's time for another ride up and down the magogs:-)

    hey, nice!!

where did you get the decals?

  • I have some that look like the picture...what are they is they aren't monos?

They are just ordinary single pivot callipers. The Monoplanar concept involves one arm passing through a slot in the other. It isn't worth getting hung up about, as there is no real advantage - there is a theoretical reduction in bending of the centre pivot shaft, but that isn't usually something people complain about with normal brakes.

I don't know how many kinds of Monoplanars there were, definitely Veloce (which I have), Chorus, and Athena. Campag didn't go in for gratuitous changes from year to year back then, so I don't think there were any early/late models, as they didn't last very long before the whole range went over to dual pivots. Croce d'Aune and Record were Delta at the time, so the best Monoplanar was only mid-range.

The concept lives on in the M5 brake

  • Finally got the BB out the Bob. FUSED in there after less than a year, some of the cups had been chewed up by corrosion. Whatever was in there, it liked eating alloys.

Going to get this assembled soon

Are these (still) available? Can't find stockists through googling. Are they prohibitively expensive? Would look awesome on my bike.

  • Scratch that, found them. £286 a pair exc shoes. Gulp.

  • They've got them in the glass cabinet (natch) at Mosquito, if you fancy a perv.

  • Dolan support Team GB dont they?

Simona doesn't look very British. Of course Dolan wants his bikes under British riders if they are the best, but also under excellent riders regardless of nationality. Look sponsors the French national squad, but also the Chinese and others, for similar reasons. I'm sure Bridgestone would get behind a genuine Japanese medal prospect, but the sponsorship usually follows quality, rather than the other way around.

Bontrager Speed Limit is another modern interpretation of the Monoplanar at a more reasonable £88

Too risky, temptation too great: might whip out the credit card

That is rather nice. Do you happen to know if anywhere sells them singly? Being a hipster, I only need a front one.

  • Is this monoplanar then?

  • Just noticed the 6Nm torque settings for attaching the brake pad (calipers are full carbon). Would'nt want to over torque that before riding down a mountain.

  • Is this monoplanar then?

Yes, and so is this, at £680/pr without pads.

  • You bastard, you've cursed my track pump. Now it's broken, and I've had to order an SKS Rennkompressor

A word of advice, I have this pump and for Presta the older valve end is not good. It relies just on some rubber to create a seal, not a lever to tighten onto the barrel of the valve. It seem that a newer head has been developed so be sure to get the one with that on it...

  • It seem that a newer head has been developed so be sure to get the one with that on it...

I'm not sure whether mine will have the EVA head; the pic on Parker's site seemed to be the older metal one with a lever, but that might just be an old pic. I assume you're taking about a push on one like the old Silca

I'm probably going to get a Hirame crack pipe eventually anyway, when I get some new wheels.

  • Well, you might be lucky and they haven;t updated the picture. The lever shown on the metal head only holds the Presta adaptor onto the base, which is for Schrader, and doesn't apply grip to the valve.

This thread reminded me I've been meaning to complain to SKS, so on finding the new head on their site, I have requested one. One of the reaons I bought the Rennkompressor was that the parts are replaceable.
