If it is the pub, the Cedars Inn for good home made food. The Sloop Inn for closeness and cheapness.

Game on!
What's the tent situation? I don't have one at present...
Sold.
The travel cost appears to be £38pp currently. Joe/Matt, can you PM me to confirm that is ok, and I'll book tonight.
Depending on bike-space availability, I'll try to get us on the same train as kattiep's group.

Joe - there is some marital "tension" at the moment about this ride as it is my daughter's GCSE French oral on the Tuesday so I may not attend. If so (and I will let you know tres shortly) You can borrow mine. I'll leave it at left luggage at Waterloo on the Thursday and post you the receipt. You can collect on the day!

How long, after ferry etc, does that leave us on the Isle?edit: Just checked the times etc etc, if we get the 6.32, we can get the 10am ferry to fisbourne (40 mins). Probably not worth getting the 18.43 train back as there are engineering works on that route so the 18.32 would be better. That would mean getting the 17.30 ferry out.
That gives us roughly 11-5 which means 4 hours pedalling, 2 hours drinking. Lovely.

4 hours seems about right doesn't it?
ah i was checking on cheapest tickets through trainline. and 6.32 and 18.43 work out about tenner for the whole journey, each.also, go to ryde? as those that started ahead will be finishing there and then we can chat war stories in the pub
portsmouth - Ryde on the fastcat takes 18 minutes.Tika/Jaygee/vee/Wools: are you on the fastcat?
-
• #184
Ryde is probably a better bet although the ferry port for the Fishbourne route is closer to the Portsmouth Harbour train station.
The whole trip: Train to and from Portsmouth (6.32 & 18.32) + the ferry to Fishbourne and back is £104 or £26 each.

trains arrive directly at the fastcat harbour according to http://www.wightlink.co.uk/travel-information/portsmouth.aspx
looks like we're ok!
(i also think tika has 241 on cat ticks....)

J, I'll see if I can get a tent big enough for 3 so you can crash in with me and Pifko if you do decide to camp. Will save lugging more tents up the hill.

I'm out. I have a three person rather crappy tent that folds down nicely. Nothing technical but possibly Ok for a couple of evening non-serious camping. Joe - you interested?

Some of my friends are driving down with bikes on a rack.... I will be dropping my tent off at theirs this week so I don't have to carry it. Happy days!
