Spotted a lone wheel locked outside Paddington (ramp entrance) after tweed on Sat. Shoudla gotta pict-cha but didn't have time at the time.
Dunno if i've still got pic of a Cervelo locked with a 50p cable lock outside my local swim pool. Will look around for it. Stuck a note on that one to warn the owner though.

Two bikes this morning "locked" at the office. One a nodder commuter, the other a new looking spesh road bike. Both locked with a D-lock through a spoke. A bike theif wouldn't even need to try to remove that one. Think I will go tell the owner to sort it out.

there's a beautiful bianchi near my work that i see every weekday. they use a hefty looking covered chain thing (abus?) but it's sometimes locked to a really shit tree. it's probably ok, but it makes me worry a bit. because i'm a worrier and lock my bike where i can watch it from work, all day long.

An example of over complicating things
All those loops when the only thing stopping you from lifting the chain off the bars are the brake cables...?Why dont people like that just not lock the frame up?

Nowhere near as funny.

A hapless looking chap locked their bike to my friend's this afternoon, due to his non-painted frame looking slightly like the bike rack.
Didn't notice that his rubbish little B&Q padlock had been recently battered by a spanner after he finally turned up either. Durrrr.

Saw a guy in Halfords today buying a 1k Boardman and a £10 cable lock. Had a word with him.

saw a nice(ish) bike with a kryptonite series 2 lock, locked to a railing by the stem.. the lock deserves better.

The question is, what were you doing in Halfords? ;)
Sorry. It beggars belief doesn't it. I know a lot of people are bike 'enthusiasts' like us, but it's not f'in difficult is it.

I couldn't agree with you more here, I've already got my eyes on another lock as my new road bike has quick release front wheels.
But it really does make me laugh that people want to spend 1k on a bike then question £50 on a lock when chances are they will look at buying another bike in a few years time.

are they just allen key holes?
-
• #220
I just got myself a silver pair of these to replace my quick release

Better than carrying an addition cable lockWell I normally D lock the front wheel to the frame and then the back triangle/wheel to whatever I'm attaching to so I don't really think I need these. Also if someone wanted to take your wheels wouldn't they just use an allen key on them?

They wouldn't be able to if you had a ball bearing glued into the allen key holes as the other guy suggested.

• #222
Yeah they work with allen keys but that's what the ball bearings are for.
Glue them in or preferably magnetic balls.
Forum trick (Ed I think)
Something like this or similar concept should be OK I think.

I think the latest on this is that they cannot be removed. best to UTFS and check the appropriate thread.

Surely they will if you use superglue, then superglue remover?
I'm sure a few people (Edscoble) have done this... -

Ah, that's what I was missing!

I got a Lock N” Roll seatpost QR for my bike I leave at work, had a ball bearing in it before but missed being able to change saddle height easily, works well as only releases when bike is upside down. Still got a ball bearing in the saddle clamp but use hot melt glue rather than superglue, even then takes a while to get it out with craft knife blade.
exactly awesome pair of risers to chuck on his / her (not sexist) new replacement fixed
