Just finished this..
Why a BMX stem? That looks incredibly cramped. Also just so you know, oversized risers, cut that narrow will feel super super weird.
-
• #26862
come on max we all know bmx/dh stems are the perfect stems for when your walking round with your bike!
-
• #26863
need to get some bartape, change the saddle angle and go clipless as soon as possible as clips and straps are shit
in the last few days there has a been a horrible grinding sound coming from the the fixed cog.
its a new chain but the cog came with the wheel when i bought it.
any ideas? -
• #26864
Clips and straps aren't shit. Your clips and straps are shit.
Nice bike.
-
• #26865
Is that a 650c front wheel? You can get 650 Gatorskins.
-
• #26866
no max, they are!
-
• #26867
fair enough about the clips and straps.
and yeah, im going to get a 650c gatorskin when i get a bit more cash.
any ideas on the horrible noise? -
• #26868
no max, they are!
Good clips and straps aren't that bad!! I used to ride bloody clipless for god's sake.
-
• #26869

Can't hear anything mate.
-
• #26870
Is the cog and chain are 1/8th? is the chainline correct? is it too tight? what kind of cog it is? etc.
-
• #26871
did you lube the chain?
-
• #26872
my chainline is good, both 1/8th, its a condor 18t cog
my chain is slightly too tight, needs too stretch a little bit, i didnt think it would be the source of the problem though.
and yes it is lubed. -
• #26873
squabs, if it was an 8th chain on 32nd, there would be no noise, if it was a 32nd chain on 1 1/8th, it would not fit. fullstop.
sounds (huh??) like the chainline might be out, or the chain tension is too tight -
• #26874
its the tension, my chainline is good.
cheers for the help -

and yes it is lubed.Yeah it'll be the tight chain that's doing it. Also, a chain, chainring and cog that have never been used together kinda need to 'mate' and bed into each other. Takes a few miles. Just ride the bike a fair bit and it should stop.
