  • Egads! Have you been fertilising that stem?

  • If you are close to 180cm i think that will fit you well, the bike look like 55 or 56.
i never see a stem like that before...

  • This might be a long shot, but having searched around the net / on here etc I'm still stuck.

I bought this frame from Jos around 18months back. He wasn't sure what it was at the time, it was powdercoated when I got it, so no serial no could be seen. I have had it powdercoated again since. Could possibly be Belgian / Dutch track frame (no drilling in the rear, horizontal track ends) - although the origin thing is just a guess, seeing as though I bought from Jos...

Here are pictures of the lugs, specifically the front ones i haven't seen similar before. Maybe somebody has an idea.

I'm looking to get some decals for the bike, but don't wanna just slap something on which isn't right, haa. I'd feel like a fraud! So any help whould be appreciated!

    Ben

  • That can't be your bike actually the beak, it looks like it's been outside...

  • Go on the Beak!

  • Looks 70's to me. Fairly run of the mill Raleigh built Carlton.
Is that not a tubing decal at the top of the seat tube?

  • Try emailing Universal Cycles in Rotherham. It's run by a few ex-Carlton blokes.

  • Yeah....I tried Universal, except they didn't bother to reply....what's up with that?

I did a bit of research as I recently bought a Carlton Flyer track frame. Your bike resembles a few models in the 69/70 catalogues I found, but no exact match. I would guess it's thereabout or maybe later.

You can find more info at www.carltoncycles.me.uk

Have a look at the serial number. There is a dating page(not THAT kind of dating) on the site which provides some info on what the serial numbers mean. That might provide a clue.

  • I have this wicked cool Nitto stem I got from BLB a while ago. People are always commenting on the weird loading system and it's great but I know nothing about it. Anyone ever seen it before? Google is proving fruitless for me.

    Back reads...

    ---MAX. HT.---
    Ø22.2 (0.874)
    NITTO JAPAN
    O.T

  • Nice duvet.

  • Same loading system as the stem Nitto made for the 1st bikes with Shimano AX (aero series)
