I don't much like the political undertones of your comment. Care to expand on that Ray?
I infer that he is insinuating that you are casting aspersions to the wind.

Good to see what you think of me.
And your transparency is appreciated.Did 3beards come out of team nights last year?
By allowing 'throw-in teams' you're allowing new teams to be tried and tested, by not allowing, you're not. By testing these new teams, you are testing yourself against new/different combinations of players and styles.
I agree teams need to play more to progress and team nights are a great idea.
But it will become bullshit if this is taken away from throw-in nights. I'm imagining BAD & Apples playing team nights to get their weekly polo fix and not come to South polo on a Wednesday... it will leave not enough players for decent games and will not help other players progress.
I am all for polo nights if there is still at least one regular north and one regular south session each week for throwins. And this way Los CoƱos will get to play together as a team other than the league or tournaments (something that we haven't even done yet this year!)
I agree?
...
Throw-in teams should not be excluded. (How would you try out a new team formation or get involved with team polo otherwise?)Yep

yawn. (not just at mike, this whole endless argument bullshit)

Actually, that is exactly how 3 Beards were formed. Which is either a great argument for allowing 'new' teams or a terrible one. ;-)

Polo Tonight.

The more people bitch about this, the more likely it is these nights will happen via PM/SMS.
There can be a forum sanctioned team night, like last year, with throw-in teams existing for the night, it was fun. But teams that are competing in the euros/worlds will want to get more practice in than most, and maybe share tips with one another etc. Why not do that too. The fact that some people on here are dismissing the validity of a "proper" team only night, is prohibitive, and just fucking short-sighted.

There's not much point argueing either way, if em Wants to organise a team night that only includes teams that is his perogative, if you would like a team night that includes throwin teams organise your own night... Let people vote with their feet?
-
• #786
Agreed, let's just start playing some team polo...
-
• #787
exactly.

• #788
Challenge nights are still on though, just so you know*.
*or not.

But what happens when everyone fecks off to team nights and no one shows for throw-ins ?
Fine for the established teams, not so good for any newbies or people that just want to turn up once a week for a few games.I definitely think the Euro's/World's teams would benefit from team nights, as long as they don't destroy polo for the rest of us. Limit the team nights to 3 teams at a time and that would leave enough players for throwins too.

Don't think this can be mentioned enough so no-one gets the wrong impression and thinks there'll be no casual games anymore.
-
• #792
Ok andy point made...
Although if em doesn't allow throwin teams or teams with 2 subs, there's sure to be plenty of people left over for throw ins... At least that's my opinion, why don't we wait and see what happens before bitching about what ifs?!
Although this complaining about lack of players seems a bit strange, what's the difference between this and and other tourny? Most aren't going to make it to the worlds and euros, therefore they are both exclusive competitions and likely to make throwins difficult to organise on those weekends... Why don't you raise the same complaints about those tournies?
-
• #793
Because they are just 1 weekend each, and turnout tends to be better on weekends anyway. An ongoing midweek team night could become a focus for team players and pull them away from the established throw in nights.
I'm not bitching, just sounding some caution. Definitely think it'll be a good idea if it is well organised and managed.
-
• #794
not everything needs to be managed to death, generally that means that things don't get done or happen. it will happen, however it does.
-
• #795
nice work on keeping it transparent em, they have HON (high octane night) here... and its 12 of the best players, and its invite only and very cloak and dagger, total bullshit, nice to see that that isnt happening in london
i just think that teams who want to play some competitive games should just organise a fixture or night of just playing all night... whats to complain about? (as long as its not on throwin court bla bla)
-
• #796
HON (high octane night)
ha! Americans.
Em, though of any names for your team night? Full throttle perhaps? Pedal to the metal?
-
• #797
But the OP says abuse is encouraged!
Seriously though, good work on doing it openly. Personally I don't think the conditions of attendance are unreasonable - it doesn't exclude new teams, just says don't show up without a team and expect to play?
-
• #798
Transparency is always positive, even if it means dealing with vituperative dissent.
Personally, I have wanted to practise my polo skills, both individually & as part of a team, for a while.
The issue seems to be partly a question of inclusiveness, and partly a question of fair access to the common facilities. Both of these can be resolved with a little good-will.
-
• #799
Don't come wading in here with your fucking logic mister. This needs to be argued about ad hominem.
Hahaha

Max lives in Canada fucknut. But don't let that get in the way of a good jab at the yanks.
I missed the discussion last night, but I love the idea of polocamp. Just saying.
