This is what happened when I was moving back from france and took my '84 Colnago Master through Charles de Gaulle. Soft bag but with drop out braces and ridiculous packing/padding. I think they literally dropped it from the plane to ground level. Absolutely no come back with the airline either. So between this and my experiences of the French postal service, I now had a deep seated, if illogical, hatred of france. Well, not really, but I still get a surge of adrenaline thinking about it. I took the bike to my local builder and he straightened it back out really well but the seat stays are slightly kinked and I have no confidence riding it at speed any more, but don't have the cash to get them replaced then a re-spray done. Boo hoo.
Enjoy your riding anyway-glad to hear you got it fixed and hope you get it home in one piece.... !
