Also, it rarely seems to be enforced/considered by refs anyway. Does anyone know why it has been brought in by other countries? Players ball jointing too often and making the game boring?
Because it's not polo?

So what are we doing here? Rewriting the rules (yet again) in the week before the tournament?
I don't want to get snippy, but if I am reffing, I really don't want to have to learn a new set of rules on the morning of the tournament. It's not fair on the players, the refs or the spectators.
If we are going to change something, I think we should limit ourselves perhaps to something about exposed chain-rings / crank spiders and leave at that.

I don't think we should change anything (World rules for world qualifier), but it's down to the Manchester crew.
I was just expressing frustration... if we're going with the ball joint rule, there could be some fun tactics to be had: leave the ball jointer and heavily mark the passing man, etc.
Passing after a ball joint is a stupid rule, I agree it is full of ambiguity... ball joints for half a second, ball jointing with the side of your mallet, whether a long pass to yourself or a dispossession and repossession in quick succession allows the shot, etc.
