    The plates are not the chain, but only part of the chain. These plates (apparently) do not stretch, but its the wear that occurs to the pins, bushings, and rollers that cause the "stretch" that is witnessed.

    Sounds fair to me.

    The effect of wear, on the rollers and the chainring/sprocket teeth, will mean you need to adjust tension, even if the chain was the same length when measured. But rivet wear will result in a longer chain. Otherwise this would be a crap tool....
