• thank you max, that was what I was asking.

  • :)

  • okay let put it in carspeak shall we?

    a germanised Masterati.

    end of.

  • I got some of the BLB ergo bullhorns on my lo-pro they are well good.

  • Hello all,
    This is my first post in this forum. I hope I post in the right thread.
    I'm currently building a singlespeed bike and I'm looking for a stem and handlebar like the one (not black) on this bike;
    Does anybody know where I can find one?

    So far the only bars I can find is Nitto baby bull bars but they are very narrow. I'm looking for something 44 cm wide. I guess the other way would be to buy I charge slice and cut it before the curve.
    I have never seen some web site to sell this stem also.

    Thank you in advance for any helpful info.

    The bike is from [URL="http://www.altabikes.no/"]ALTA Bikes](http://www.dpgr.gr/usergalleries/albums/userpics/14742/2927d1225967424-alta-ss-city-racer.jpg), but I can't find any spec sheets for it....so I don't know which handle bar was used.

  • eighthinch do some pretty decent bullhorns. Mine are 40cm wide (with a 26.0 clamp) they do wider too. don't forget the shipping when you are amazed at the price on their webiste, still good value though, i'm really happy with mine.

    Also, if you after wide-ish bullhorns check out charge bars, they stock them in quite a few evans. they are flat and quite wide, not sure on the clamp size though.

    get the charge slice, but ride it straight away for a while before deciding on cutting the end, this way you'll able to decided whether if it's worth cutting it or not.

  • Thanks for the answers, you all are very helpful. It seems that the only alternative is to cut the charge slice.
    I have one question thought. Would it be difficult if I buy the Profile Design stoker to remove the colour and polish the middle part? I'm asking this since the stem I'll use is 26mm. Or just buy a shim and not bother.

  • Caustic soda to removed the paint, but I don't think it's really worth the bother just to have a silver bar, just hide it with bar tape and you'll be fine.

    Thanks a lot edscoble.

  • Raleigh also make some 'Trekking Comfort Handlebars'; similar to the North Rounders but smaller bends. Comparison photo here (scroll down) http://forum.ctc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=29591

    Recently I built my first single speed bike;

    As I wrote above, I finally purchased a Profile Design stoker for it. Unfortunately I had not seen this handlebar in reality before and as it has a constant 26mm diameter, it can be fitted in a traditional quill stem with a 26mm clamp. So, I was about to buy a charge slice until I read a review that says ''it only fits modern stems'' (I presume ahead stems). First review in this page; http://www.evanscycles.com/products/charge/slice-track-bar-ec019151
    As I see in this photo the slice is 25,4mm only at the clamp area and then the diameter lowers to 24-23,8mm I suppose, therefore a traditional quill can be used.
    Does anyone have any experience ?

    Thanks in advanced for your prompt answers.

  • Didn't read all the posts, but there are 1" to 1 1/8" quill converters.
    One brand that made them was Profile.

    For other hand positions, there's the H bar by Jones, made by Titec in non-Ti, but looks weird.
    More for MTB.

  • I have a problem with this solution, because all quill converters I've found so far, have a 22,2mm diameter at the part that is inserted into the fork.
    The fork of the bike accepts only 22mm quills. It's a French make you see.

  • you can use a 25.4 bar on a 26 clamp, if that what you're asking.

  • No I'm not asking this. I thought that a bar with a 26 mm clamp would do as well. But the stoker doesn't because it has a constant 26mm diameter and the quill cannot slip through the curves (a quill like 3t Motus that sports a divided clamp would do). http://www.defietsenmaker.nl/index.php?item=3ttt-quill-stem-motus-grey&action=article&group_id=10000013&aid=161&lang=EN
    What I'm asking is if the charge slice is the same.

  • There is a proper spreader tool for quill stems, but you can (gently!) prize the stem open a bit with a screwdriver if you can't get your bars in. Be careful not to mark the stem though.

  • try and put a screwdriver tips between the gap of the stem, pry it a bit and try and push the bar in.

    edit - 16 minutes too late!

  • Thanks a lot for the answers guys, but the stoker is way too thick. The bike technician struggled for more than one and a half hours and didn't accomplished anything. It definitely doesn't fit.
    So the initial question remains. Does anybody have any actual experience with the charge slice?

  • If you look at the photo of the Charge Slice bar, it's only the clamp area that are 25.4;

    Exactly Ed. This is what I said at the previous post. I presume it would be ok. It is the review I read that confuses me. Maybe it's not serious.
    Thanks a lot for your consern.

  • Do the handlebars come with end caps? Am considering a set of bull bars myself.

    Normally not. Usually bar tape comes with end caps.
