  • I had one of these last year. I'm a pretty passive and gentle sort of bloke who avoids confrontation most of the time. But sometimes the red mist just decends and when a guy in a van actively swerved at me following a mild exchange of hand signals on Edgeware Rd a while back I fucking lost it. Swear to Tynan i nearly threw my bike through his windscreen. I was standing over his bonnet, screaming, spitting and shaking with rage. If i'd had a d-lock on me at the time I'm pretty sure his windows would have been history. A passer by steered me away from what i was apparently about to do (I was wielding my bike ready to throw it and screaming "you stay away from me!"). Not proud of it either, but there's something about that deliberate and potentially murderous intent that can flip you over to the "fight" side of fight or flight. I like to think i'd react in more of a PaulR kinda way these days...

    Just glad you're okay dude.

Oh, and to all the people suggesting a cheeky assault followed by a jaunty excape up a one-way street...what makes you think the kind of people who go about pushing cyclists of their bikes for fun, getting out of their cars in full public view to beat up innocent cyclists and carrying knives aren't going to make an illegal left turn in order to get you alone in a quiet alleyway when you've just kicked their car?

I'd think twice about that strategy if I were you.

    Be safe kids!
