don't need aero bars, orange paint, or a 9 tooth either. seriously, where do you ride this? I guess the hella fast gear makes rollers easier. ok. i'm alright with it.

I know, I was takken de piss.

I need the aero bars so I can replicate the position of my race bike. I need the powder coat (didn't have to be that colour, but they all cost the same) because steel frame + sweat = rust if you don't have a robust finish. I need the 9 tooth because I couldn't find a chainring big enough to give 165" gear with the smallest track sprocket (12t)*. With that gear, I can do 100rpm for 1 minute (50mph) or 120rpm for 30s (60mph), and I'm working up to doing 85rpm (roughly what I average in a race) for a race duration; I haven't done it yet, but I've done 80rpm for 10 minutes, so I'm not a million miles off with the gearing.
*I could have had a 77t custom made, but the hub + modification + 56t ring worked out cheaper, and I know Nik Bowdler has chainstay clearance issues with his 77t, so the chainline would have got f'ed up

I don't need my bike to be blue, but it is. :)

Don't need the bars to be any other colour than how they came. If I were aiming for elegant, I'd get them anodised black to match everything else, but that would be a needless luxury.

9T is not a problem for freehub systems, so no problem at all for fixed.
For all you road sprinters: all you need is the cassette (or some sprockets) and the rear hub (or freewheelbody)

Here's a bike you can hate. Teehee.
this is nice, what bars are those?

I guess the hella fast gear makes rollers easier.
Makes rollers harder; spinning on 100" is ridiculously light compared with this. Other roller-specific choices are 36 spokes front and rear for the aerodynamic drag and Rigida Sputnik rim (700g) on the back and Zac 19 on the front for the inertia

I would recommend aero/flat spokes with wrong orientation.
Or a piece of carpet between the rollers.
Low tyre pressure
2 stones under the supports in the front to give the whole an inclination

The Capreo system has to be that way to provide >100" gear with 20" wheels and normal sized chainrings, although why anybody thinks they need such a big gear on a folding bike is a mystery. Although 9t drivers are common on BMX hubs, I've never seen a fixed hub which takes less than 12t, even on special trials hubs. There is a problem if you want to go lower than 12t that you can't fit the axle + bearing + mounting system (threads or splines) inside the base circle of the sprocket, unless you use an axle or bearing too small for the load. All systems using smaller sprockets end up with the sprocket cantilevered off the end of the hub outboard of the main wheel bearing, although a subsidiary sprocket support bearing is sometimes provided.

moglix very nice but how are those double straps working out for you with those pedals ?
btw thanks for the cranksYeah the doubles work sweet, just crank the front strap down tight a bit, boom. They cant tuck in as no bits for it, got them made for a song at a local shop, way cheaper than new ones. Kind of weird that there is no thing to hold the front one, but no worries.
A friend has a bike by the same builder, will get a pic, is gusseted too.... Hot heres a link to some pics, before he bought it, will try get a fresh one soon http://solejam.com/phpBB3new/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=3603
Might get OG stickers too, plus columbus aero ones.... will post when done

Don't need brakes on the rollers
One of the first things I was told when I got my rollers, was not to touch the brake. I can imagine the outcome.
front wheel stops;
front roller stops;
rear roller stops;
I'm suddenly doing 40 kph in my little kitchen.Still find myself tempted. Its like when the waiter in a resturaunt puts a plate in front of you and says careful its red hot. You have to poke it to check.
Love the set-up. But could'nt you just put some tape between the spokes, on opposite sides of the wheel, to increase drag? or am I just an uninventive cheapskate.
