My 2p is that violent video games will certainly have the potential to affect previously unstable characters, and although they will not give anyone particular moral insight (but what do I know, there may well be games out there that could have a potential to--I've just never seen any), most people won't change appreciably as a result of playing them.
Much was made of the way the Columbine murderers played Doom, for instance, but in a generally fairly violent and unjust society the real influences on acts of violence like that are probably to be found predominantly in the real world, in the facets of life that matter more, such as parent-child relationships, disturbing experiences, etc. A lot of people are full of anger that they can probably rather reduce a little bit by play-acting out violence. I'd still take that over shooting at living people any day. There will always be those who develop serious mental health difficulties, and they will be vulnerable to any such 'influence', but demonising video games probably mainly serves to distract from the more fundamental issues.

Playing games has clearly turned you into a violent and unstable character. ;P
STFU N00B. I joke i joke. but tbh would they rather kids of today sitting indoors harmlessly killing eachother or going out with knives n killing eachother for real... i agree that the age limit should be rethought. Ive played many 18+ games only for it to be ruined by little whining kids. N some of the language and things they say is unacceptable. i was even playing a game where the kid and the mum were playing together. the mum was worse than the kid! and also the woman in the youtube video has no idea. she comes from a different generation. The technology involved in most games is amazing and i class most games as interactive films. you play a character in a story. i'm going to university to study games art n design in september so this whole debate is quite big to me. The age limit on games really has to be tighter though. when i was 15 i could go in a shop n buy any game n they wouldn't check. Shops like Game have quite a strict policy but i think more should be done to stop kids getting these games. i Also think most parents don't know what goes on in these games so they just buy them to shut up there kids.

I don't believe that there is really any way of stopping kids getting games they want if by prohibiting them they are turned into something attractive.

Heavy Rain. It's PS3 only.... i have it and it's pretty great so far (only about 2/3 hours in)
As heavy rain's only on PS3, I went for the previous game by the same peopl, fahrenheit, which is on the PC.
It's pretty good. I'd rcommend it. It's only a fiver

That woman is a complete fucking mong.
Could not agree with that any fucking more.
What a complete twat. Games do have age ratings, the same as films. If you let you kids watch under age films, it's the same as games.
Jeez theres much worse websites in the world than anything you would see in a game.

If you want to wait for half an hour between every map change and risk loosing connection with the lobby or you like spending half an hour trying to get into a server, have a constant threat of wall hackers and players using aim bots, and think you can put up with the constant shit in the chat about 'your a noob, noob this, noob that, noob tuber, glitcher, cheat, hacker then modern warfare 2 is definitely the game for you. if you want some better game play working as a team, dedicated servers that you can connect to, tanks. massive maps, can blow up everything in sight, i mean like level a forest, bring down buildings with C4 then battlefield is perfect, i fucked Cod in the bin as soon as i got my hands on bad company 2

I'm not for a second doubting you but how big a problem is this? Maybe I've been lucky but I can only think of a handful of games played with idiots mouthing off or worse killing their own team members. As for aimbot thing how prevalent is it? Can I blame this for me beign a bit rubbish/getting killed a lot?
I only play hardcore now so is this a factor in not experiencing too much grief?
That said given the glowing reviews Bad Company 2 sounds like a future purchase and potential relationship breakdown contributor ;)

I just wish BC2 had more weapons/ unlocks, then it would be the perfect game.

I've only ever been involved in 2 hacked MW2 games, one was the big one where I was stuck in Rust forever, the other was where some snipers were sort of floating up into the air. We just picked on them and BANNED THAT FILTH.

• #695
I've had them games on MW2 when the whole game has moved really (and I mean really) fast like sprinting around the level, was really easy to get kills and I stayed in the room for a while if I'm honest just to get some easy points!
-
• #696
i only play hardcore to. theres not much skill involved in cod. its not hard to kill people at all and theres no tactics involved. I need to get my hands on BC2. I played the demo and i still think battlefiled 2 is the best multiplayer game. but the physics and gameplay in BC2 are so good. I just hope annoying kids n hackers get hold of it n it turns out like COD.
-
• #697
Well to be honest mate considering how open ended the levels are compared to MW2 I have only seem 1 glitch so far.
Also everyone playing BC2 seems to be much more mature ie. no screaming kids..Does wind me up when my whole team want to snipe though, grrrrr.....

• #698
yeh. i just wished BC2 had the weapons of cod. i hate the way you walk so slow in BC2.

• #699
haha "weapons of cod". hah

I'd have to disagree with COD being tactless, it's just different. Rather than highly symbiotic team play, there's a lot of psychology involved. Double bluffing your actions, second guessing others, when to reveal yourself, when not to, luring targets without camping, flanking teams, hunting. I get my pure teamplay kicks on Left 4 Dead, which absolutely relies on it; in fact it can take a while to get into a decent team, since so many players are idiots with no headset and the inability to understand that running off on your own is only going end with you being savaged in a lonely corner of the map by a rampant Jockey.
Playing games has clearly turned you into a violent and unstable character. ;P
