Not at all irrelevant. How do you know that wasn't her motive for goading the police, y'know, in the back of her mind she knew she could sell her story and make a few quid. So her reasoning for being so aggressive (that she was protecting her friend, or whatever) would have come under more scrutiny. The fact that she didn't even turn up to court speaks volumes. So no, not irrelevant. (How's that? Any good?)
It irrelevant because it was not her actions that came under scrutiny. Whether she did it for money or not (I fucking doubt it), the cop acted in a way he shouldn't have, and that is what is being discussed.
