they do rise above it, all too often. they are exceptionally well-mannered, compared to every other police force in the world. but this wasn't an ordinary situation, it was a high-intensity protest. the police need to be assumed to be in the right at all times otherwise they will not be able to do their job properly. complaints should be dealt with internally.
