  • We just got a call from someone who possibly saw Oscar last night near Broadway, on Pownall Street. Anna posted a load of fliers along the canal this afternoon, and this lady saw one and called. We're going to check it out after dark. Our fingers and toes are crossed, but at the same time, we are trying not to get our hopes up!

  • Posters, FTW!

  • Fingers crossed... x

This is the poster; Anna followed the advice on this site to make it. It's American, but I think it's very good.

  • You may well have done this already though just in case if you haven't already it's worth calling Battersea. My cat Leon went missing, I spent weeks putting up posters and looking for him round the neighbourhood. About 3 months later I got a card from Battersea saying they had him(he was chipped) unfortunately after rushing there the next day they said they didn't actaually have him, turned out they picked him about 2 weeks after he went missing, failed to find his chip(?!) and sold him to another family. The reason I got the card is that the vet of new family found the chip when trying to put a new one in. In the end I left him with the new family he had been living with for 2 months as it just seemed the least painful option for him and them plus it didn't seem like i had many options apart from demanding him back from the new family.

I normally lurk here looking in the classifieds but this caught my eye and just wanted to pass on as it might help and I know the pain of losing a cat, hope he turns up soon.

I am pretty sure that Anna called Battersea, I know she called the RSPCA. But I'll check*.

Turns out she registered him with Battersea using an online form.

They didn't find the chip? That is... disappointing. What an awful position to find yourself in. My sympathies.

  • I registered him as missing on the Battersea website.

  • I was stunned by it all, it was in between his shoulder blades like every other chip.....he was picked up as he had lost his collar, looked well fed they told me and then was sold on fairly quickly as they didn't find the chip. He's a great very friendly cat and visited most of the houses on my road(a bit of a tart really) and just went off on an adventure which unfortunately for me ended up with him living elsewhere. In the end was happy knowing he was safe and well looked after.

He had though been off for a few weeks in the past and my posters always did the trick, someone grabbbed him at the end of my road and called me the time before last.

Hope Oscar turns up soon, he looks amazing.

  • good cause/any news? bump

  • I really hope he turns up Bill. He looks really cool

Unfortunately not, we did speak to a couple of other people who think they may have seen him. Anna's out today putting up more posters in the area he was seen, so there may be more calls generated by that.

Whatever, I guess we'll be out again tonight & very early tomorrow morning.

Next time, I am getting a tortoise. Less interaction, but only a very slight possibility of losing it.

  • i've seen the poster on whiston road, eyes peeled good luck.

  • Fingers crossed guys.

  • It wasn't Oscar. Oh well. We'll keep looking.

  • I really feel for you guys. I hope he makes it home soon. I'm down the road and we don't see many cats here but I'm keeping my eyes out for you.

  • Thanks everyone. We have been speaking to so many people that have had cats disappear for days and even weeks, and got them back, so we are not giving up hope.

  • Found! He was in Haggerston school. Anna's there now, trying to calm him. Horatio's on the way with a cat carrier.

  • Amazing! Well done! Yay!!!

  • Yeah!!!!

  • Wahoo!!

  • No way! A fucking school! Ha! Not getting enough teaching at home eh Bill?
Best get your old text books out. Actually, people don't use abacuses anymore ;)
