17mph is average speed if doing hills as well

if this is flat i dont see why 20mph is not doable

perhaps split it into 2 groups

No way you can average 20mph for 120 miles

a group of half a dozen or more could easily do that distance in 7 hours (17mph) if you all do a bit on the front. the prevailing wind is usually behind you and no hills to slow you down.
gears would help though.

That's much more achievable. 20mph in a group of fixie-nodders is gonna be tough

Also not accounting for breaks and stuff.

Well, all my April weekends are booked up.
May 22/23rd is out.
June 5/6th is out.

What about end of May? We could do it on the Sunday as theres a bank holiday on the Monday?

Oh yeah it might be worth finding out about trains and bikes before sorting a date. I know from going back and forth to Norwich that there is often engineering works at the weekend resulting in part of the journey being by bus or coach......just a warning

April is a non-starter for me, May is pretty full, June good tho, or perhaps later in the summer? August bank holiday?
