Thanks for all the people pointing out how I'm being all modern and that with my set up, but the truth is slightly different. You'll see when I put the other bars on that it fits perfectly, and that's what I bough it for. Despite the slightly odd looks, it rides fine on the track with that 12cm stem, although I'd probably have bought the next size up if I'd actually bought it only for the track. They only come in 53 (mine) 56 (what I'd have in a road bike, would need a flat 10cm stem for the track) and 59 (big enough for lanky gits like Maxcrowe and Crane)
