  • Excuse me, but I think you're just believing what you've been told. I'll bet you haven't actually seen a free energy machine, you've read about it in a book or on the internet.

Ok...believing what you have been told...

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdBT6tGsGLY&feature=related"]YouTube-
Mark Thomas s03e05 Nuclear Trains Part 1[/ame]

Just what have you been told, and how much of it is full of holes?

The problem with capitalism is that is solely interested in making money, end of discussion.

  • What is 'Us', us being the system that is a perfect model of capitalism? the nestle model? the nestle that quite happily poisoned african babies?

Proof...There is plenty of proof to indicate that the goverment have been bought off by business, like I say have any of you ever watched question time?

    Pathetic.

So you move from not providing any proof to Nestlé poisoning babies in Africa?

You are one delusional motherfucker. I cannot stand your kind.

  • radios in marxist_fixie to sort this thread out

You mean marxist_fixie and Wingedangel aren't one and the same person?????

    ^^^That says they are. ^^^

  • Pathetic.

So you move from not providing any proof to Nestlé poisoning babies in Africa?

You are one delusional motherfucker. I cannot stand your kind.

    Okaaaayyy. Looks like I was wrong. marxist_fixie isn't delusional, he's a communist.

  • Nestle continues to aggressively market a product which has been linked infant deaths in Africa. Its not poisonous as such.

  • Just what have you been told, and how much of it is full of holes?

The problem with capitalism is that is solely interested in making money, end of discussion.

Yes - see my previous post. Capitalism is a philosophy, not an economic system. It's the belief that the point of life for individuals and organisations is to acquire the biggest pile of money possible. Yes, people are ruthless and greedy in the pursuit of that aim.No, I don't like it either. But there's no magic bullet. I know lots of people who are living genuinely alternative lives with some success, self-sufficient in energy and food to a large extent, shunning greed and waste as much as possible. They don't have magic energy boxes, they just work really hard.

  • Pathetic.

So you move from not providing any proof to Nestlé poisoning babies in Africa?

You are one delusional motherfucker. I cannot stand your kind.

Delusional? and not providing any proof? what of, the 'free energy' machine...?

Get a grip, The whole Op original discussion was discussing freedom...?

so...I'm free to believe that you think that if there was 'free energy' you despite your protestations should be allowed to have it? even though you think it is bollocks and that anyone championing it is a 'delusional motherfucker'...

those 'delusional mothefuckers' are surely going to pat you on the head and say yes of course...it's all here...look...>>>

    no.

doesn't work like that ...fizz away...all your frustration just gives my hand more power.

enjoy the telly this afternoon won't you.

ps...The Sun works...somehow it just does..we can't explain it properly, though by your rationale... it cannot happen and therefore cannot exist.

    explained pretty well, I feel.

  • From a quick Google, there certainly isn't any doubt that Tesla was an extremely important inventor, and his Wikipedia entry is certainly enormous and sets your mind reeling.

It seems that he strayed into many areas that are still considered unimaginable today--some of the stuff that's on-line about him seems like a catalogue of themes for any future science fiction.

The 'free energy' device claims seem to revolve around this (page in German), his 'free energy receiver':

    http://www.tesla-info.de/fenergie.htm

The page notes that it is not known whether this ever worked, and that apparently Tesla left out crucial details in his notes for fear of having his ideas stolen. So, not much hard evidence on that one, really. Who knows whether it might work? I don't know anything about engineering, but Wingedangel seems to be a very practical person and engineer, so perhaps she understands this better.

Many of Tesla's other inventions seem to have worked, even if his own attempts at building machines on their basis were often seemingly ahead of his time. He was also fairly chaotic concerning finance and his life looks like a rollercoaster of misfortune and missed opportunities.

Certainly extremely interesting, and I had also never heard of Tesla before she mentioned him in another thread somewhere. Whatever is true about his life and his inventions, the level of neglect that is apparent about him seems disproportionate.

I'm particularly interested in his claims about Einstein and Ruđer Bošković.

  • Pathetic.

C'mon skunkworks, I already laid this conversation out for you !! You are currently experiencing the 'complex question' or misdirection section. (see XXX below)

**A: **There is plenty of proof for free power you just need to look

**B: **Can you point me towards an example so I can see for myself

**A: **I am not your fucking slave, get up off your arse and Google it for yourself

**B: **I have done, but couldn't find anything credible to support the idea

**A: **Yeah, that's because you are deliberately searching for stupid conspiracy theories and not the genuine information

**B: **Can you then point me toward this genuine information ?

**A: **Why can't you do your own fucking research ?

**B: **Like I say I have tried but have found nothing ?

**A: **You don't want to find anything you just want to mock the idea.

**B: **Well why don't you point me towards the information that lead you to believe the idea is viable

**A: **Whats the point you wouldn't believe it anyway.

**B: **Can I take a look just so I can see what this information is ?

**A: **Why, you wouldn't read it anyway.

    **B: **I promise I would.

XXX A: Do you even realize that GM foods are designed to induce AUTISM ! XXX

**B: **Yes that's great, but could we stick to the free energy thing, can you show me your proof ?

**A: **You fucking work for the government.

    . . . . and so on.

  • ps...The Sun works...somehow it just does..we can't explain it properly, though by your rationale... it cannot happen and therefore cannot exist.

  • Delusional? and not providing any proof? what of, the 'free energy' machine...?

    Yes, free energy machine.

Get a grip, The whole Op original discussion was discussing freedom...?

And yet your opening gambit makes claims for free energy machines - and its hypothetical impact on freedom.

[ . . . ] you think that if there was 'free energy' you (despite your protestations) should be allowed to have it? even though you think it is bollocks and that anyone championing it is a 'delusional motherfucker'...

Yes, because someone thinks something is unlikely - does not mean that some punitive process must follow where they are denied this thing for doubting it.

those 'delusional mothefuckers' are surely going to pat you on the head and say yes of course...it's all here...look...>>>

Why on earth would they not ? If you can provide proof then you will win over the doubters, why not then provide the proof ?

I suspect, as I am sure we all do now, that you cannot provide any credible evidence because there is no credible evidence.

Have we got to the 'you work for the government' section yet, I want to go out ?

  • wingedangel, do you even know what a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluorescent_lamp is? or how it works? whilst it is possible for them to illuminate without being plugged in, it is impossible for them to last forever. no matter how thick the glass is.

due to loss of mercury into the glass, phosphor and electrodes, disintegration of the electrodes and increasing inefficiency of the phosphor, they will always eventually fail. but they do last a long time.

do you even know what a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faraday_cage is? they block electric fields. ergo, if my room, or anyone's room, were a faraday cage, they would not get wireless internet, be able to use their mobile phone, be able to listen to the radio...

    now please, either

    a) show some credible evidence
    b) get a physics degree
    c) stop posting.

and this argument has even begun to consider the implications of newtonian mechanics, and conversely, quantum indeterminacy on the concepts of free will in the first place.

  • no.

doesn't work like that ...fizz away...all your frustration just gives my hand more power.

Looks like you will need it.

  • Get a grip, The whole Op original discussion was discussing freedom...?

yes, and you have provided no social, political, or philosophical arguments or even statements about freedom, except providing a demonstration that people are free to think total bullshit, but i'm not sure you can take credit for that

enjoy the telly this afternoon won't you.

yes, yes i will, not sure if there's any doctor who on, but there is stuff like this on, based on, ya know, empirical evidence and well thought out and supported theories.

ps...The Sun works...somehow it just does..we can't explain it properly, though by your rationale... it cannot happen and therefore cannot exist.

    see the TV program above.

now, for this tesla free energy shit, the first google hit for "tesla free energy" (could you suggest any better terms?) is this, which suggests, that this "free energy" is not actually, energy from nothing, but is utilizing the suns energy. now, i am going to postulate something quite simple: it didn't work. according to that link, it was based on capacitors (which are like batteries, basically, charge is stored on a metal plate), capacitors today can only hold fuck all charge. so back in the day, they could have held much less than fuck all. thus being useless. and, according to that link, it is simple to make, so go off and make one. and if talking about freedom, tesla ain't exactly a champion of it, having over 200 patents [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Tesla_patents"]200 patents[/ame] that could be more beneficial for people if they were freely available.

and and and and and, research regarding [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_Transmission_of_Electricity"]wireless energy transfer[/ame] is still ongoing

  • From a quick Google, there certainly isn't any doubt that Tesla was an extremely important inventor, and his Wikipedia entry is certainly enormous and sets your mind reeling.

I'm going to have to disagree with you here Oliver. Wingedangel completely missed my hilarious alternating current vs. direct current joke earlier in the thus proving he is a fool.

Many of Tesla's other inventions seem to have worked, even if his own attempts at building machines on their basis were often seemingly ahead of his time. He was also fairly chaotic concerning finance and his life looks like a rollercoaster of misfortune and missed opportunities.

Again, have to disagree about the neglect. Tesla is extremely well known. He shaped the transmission of electricity. Wikipedia Current Wars and see the pros/cons of alternating versus direct. [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_of_Currents[/ame]

And +1 to soperRiva's entropy comment as well. Thermodynamics was the most infuriating course I took at Uni. The only course I did worse on was E-Mag. For these reasons I have no business posting in this thread!

  • YouTube- Mark Thomas s03e05 Nuclear Trains Part 1

with regards to this video, it is awful. i respect mark thomas at times, but here he is mostly mixing pseudo-science with scare tactics (e.g., that radiation would evaporate people). why should the council have a detailed emergency plan? they are not qualified to deal with a nuclear spill, surely it is the responsibility of BNFL to deal with this? ya know, the ones with the scientists. and alleging that a nuclear fuel rod would be safe to hold? this is total bullshit. it was probably more likely to be vitrified low level waste, or just an example of what one looks like:

i presume he is also a qualified engineer, commenting on the integrity of some train track?

  • Just come back from a quick ride and while I was trundling along I remembered this:

Tesla had devised an electrical 'system' that lit a flourescent tube (also his idea) 10 miles from new york with no wires, that was self perpetuating once started. It used a 'wave' of electricity that was in empathy with the earth vibrating at 440hz, and not the 50hz that will presently kill you. (it's more complicated than that however that is the general jist. Upon discovering that this system would be 'free' and wouldn't require literally billions of tonnes of copper, Teslas workshops mysteriously burnt down.

The dude was experimenting with huge coils that wound up voltages well into the tens of thousands. He was also extremely interested in ways to transmit that power across space without wires. It's just possible that there's a more straightforward reason why his workshop burned down.

  • some nut thought it was witchcraft?

  • and then I became a Biochemist, and learnt that thermodynamics is God.
    except it exists.

Thermodynamics may be god but Kinetics is King.

  • god > king no?

unless you're talking about jesus in which god = king

  • god > king no?

Yeah, but I was going for the alliteration. My point is that although some things are thermodynamically favourable (like turning water into hydrogen and oxygen) they wont just spontaneously transform unless the activation energy for the reaction is exceeded.

I'm not really saying it's more important. I'm saying that it is almost as, or just as, important.

  • some nut thought it was witchcraft?

Maybe, but this is what a Tesla coil does when you power it up:

and he was building much bigger ones, with presumably very little by way of health and safety stuff going on... I wouldn't have given him fire insurance.
