  • Thanks, hope you noticed the sticker!

Great, answers the question whether 531 Awesome decals can be clearcoated and oven baked.

  • DEFO needs the TT decals taking off

    They're correct, and traditional.

  • Plus I'm happy! Vic's bike there is what convinced me to go metallic actually, C&G do some lovely metallic work.

Those decals on vic's legendary Orrell are actually the older ones, they are slightly nicer but have a tendency to fall off, which was what was happening to my old decals.

These new ones are vinyl and should be much more resilient. Plus Neil's ran out of the old ones.

Just needs facing and reaming now so I can get the headset fitted, then I can finally build it up.

    Nooooooooo!

  • got the frame off hilary, built it up today. pretty happy with it, bit scraggy paint in parts but its a communter so i dont know if i care. would still like views on whther white touch ups would work (it's definitely plain white). love the details. getting a different saddle tomorrow i hope.

  • Tidy your kitchen you student

  • Scott Free, thats lovely, and the frame looks seriously old. Its quite similar to my Edwardian Path Racer, but for the sloping top tube on mine. Nice job!

  • back on the road.
In time for the Tweed, for which I was too late!

1900s Path Racer. I bought it 5 years ago from a VCC officer, so there's no doubting it's the real deal, but of course nobody has any idea of the maker. Cycle parts are mostly Chater Lea, and fork is Raleigh.
It's fast and fun, and built to ride, not polish.
Ive just given it a gentle refurb, so it will be making appearances around town very soon!
Tonight I will mostly be varnishing grips and buffing saddle! There's a period flint catcher to go on as well.

  • Daughter Jessica's latest project. Salvaged Dawes Galaxy, ready to be punked!

    beautiful!

you have a front brake? block-on-tyre type? << no, not block, there's a pic :-/

  • colnago mexico pista, still some things to change, slowly getting there

  • wow! and i mean WOW! and you can never overquote this beauty enough on one page! let me say this again - WOW!!!

what's the ride like apart from "fast and fun" which i believe? can't imagine what's it like with those angles...

  • Scorch; Well since the bike's nickname is 'Scorcher', I'll let you have a go if you introduce yourself if you see me at a 'beers' or somewhere.

  • the deal is too good, and the bikes are preeeeety good. 3 guys at my shop have them. althogh i'd prefer the pro machine, but i cant afford it. there's rumours of a BMC team haha

    Whats this magic deal?

The manager of the Evans I was briefly employed at had a BMC too.

  • Daughter Jessica's latest project. Salvaged Dawes Galaxy, ready to be punked!

That looks like my sister circa '92

  • All those evenings with Autosol, microfibre cloth and dremel paid off.
I think I'm going to dedicate this "project" to Nuknow.

Proper picture when is ready (if Hutch finds some spare time)

    fluted ftw!
Just need to get those some tape on those bars. ;)

  • Still not a great pic but this is more what the whole frame looks like:

What this needs, right, is a blue deep-v with yellow spokes on the front, and the a yellow rim with blue spokes on that back, yah dig?

Seriously, that's a gorgeous frame, well done.

japanese cockpit on italian bike is not so nice, i agree. but there's a 3ttt bar/stem (colnago panto :)) with tape on the way. got the pista pedals (campagnolo njs) as well, so i think the only thing to find is dark brown (not brooks) leather bartape.

    anyone have a suggestion?

  • more of Robin Mathers current project - the frame he is building for himself

first pic he has tacked on the tubes with 3 spot welds

2nd and 3rd pics show the fusion welds

4th and 5th show the final welds with filler applied

the weld sites are very shiny after the work has been done, that will be dulled down when the frame is shot peened.

not sure he is so keen on my father waiting for the new child analogy, it my be that i refer to him as my mid wife or paediatrician

  • could some of the geeks, expain me what are the tubes in DJ pics (1,2 and 3)? and dont be funny, no the metal tubes

  • Its a Ti frame rik, so the tubes need to be filled with Argon....I think thats what it is anyway...

    Stunning, Peter!
Think about (white, orange?) cloth tape with shellac!
Depending on the nr of layers it gets darker and darker.
