The A6 is fine... Full of gun toting asbo'd yoot... No scary dual carriageway...
-
• #303
Err, yeah. Snake Pass is one of the classic climbs in the UK. Makes Ditchling look like what it is: a speed-bump with delusions of grandeur.
bit like ur polo career?

Thank you all for your concern.
Just to put things straight: The Toffs haven't split up as such... Dan has moved to Montreal, meaning its difficult for him to attend practice. We could fill his place with someone from Oxford but we just haven't decided who.
This leaves Corey and myself (Sean) representing the Toffs. But unfortunately Corey is heading back to Canada for a few months over Spring, and won't be around for the 17th/18th April, so I am the last man standing. It must have been something I said...
The turnouts to practice have been pretty low this winter with the crap weather, people moving away and an injury. So we've not had the chance to sort out teams for any upcoming Tournaments.
I definitely want to play at Manchester and so do a few others, so we've entered a team and I will try and resolve the situation by recruiting 2 others to be branded as Toffs.
I will keep you informed
I'll see you there!
Sean
Oxford ToffMontreal is where I'm headed too. That'll break up the Hip Replacements, but I get bashed off me bike more by them than anyone else anyway. Wouldn't mind meeting new wheels in Montreal under which to throw myself.

You have to learn how to bend your own wheels then :)

'Them' is singular in this context, I take it?? Don't drag me into this kitten fight!
The way the Replacements played on Sunday, the break-up won't be such a catastrophic loss to the world of polo, methinks!

• #310
Indeed - you can't beat 3 hours of Fleetwood Mac on a Saturday night IMO.

Yeah, well, um, I can do that trying to true my own wheels, so there. Given my background of too much post structuralism "true" is now an indelibly relative term anyway. Mr K (as in Mr "kitten fight"?) knows a great deal on this subject.

How did deconstruction find its way into polo?
-
• #316
It was always already there.
-
• #317
Ha
No polo is immune to such frolics. Nothing as pure as the polo experience can be confused.
-
• #318
Confusion is merely a state of mind, it suggests an attempt to reduce the world by believing in the existence of truth, reality, purity and origins, all of which are contestable terms. But this is not understanding, this is story telling, and story telling is the muddiest, most impure of operations. "Pure" is a conceit, a term useful only as a function of clearing away distractions to allow better focus. Focus could be seen as an act of pure being-ness, a performance of detachment from opinion (storytelling) in the service of reaction. Polo, in the playing, is a supreme expression of focus and therefore provides the sensation of purity.
Jesus, I gotta lay off the coffee. I apologize, I'm dick.
But hey, I've not seen much "purity" or "reality" when it comes to score keeping, time keeping or bike construction.
Bring on the impure I say.

How did long thought out posts find their way into polo?
-
• #320
Tis true polo is not pure, but it is that that gives some relief.
In the same way to exhaust some spittle

ALSO any team that doesn't hasn't been housed at the mo, but wants to stay for Fri or Sunday aswell, shouldn't have too mcuh trouble being housed for either of those days, as i think most people are only staying for the Saturday night (although most people are rubbish at answering a direct question of when they needed housing and simply said YES, haha)

Truth exists. Derrida found that out when he died. You will find that out if I punch you in the face. This is my erudite critique of relativism and postmodernism.
-
• #325
I should have said "objective truth exists." For instance, that bike polo is awesome is an objective fact. Deal with it.
It would appear to be straight down the A6 from the station. Is the A6 a nice bit of easy going urban road or a shit the bed derestricted dual carriageway ?
