I know people who have done the course and ended up at Jag/land rover

I'm being nosey but some time I like to chat about what your learrning.

  • Certainly, in the meantime here's the course modules to give you a rough idea:

  • Just changed my much loved 78 camper van after 8 years for this 77 Swedish import. 19,000 kms from new, it's like driving a NOS van. Totally unrestored, been garaged since some time in the 80s and totally solid, just a spot of repair needed on the tailgate where the window seal has let some water in.

It's got a 2-litre type-4 with Bosch fuel injection, which is a revelation after the wheezy 1600 type1 in my old hi-top bay, and the gearchange is like a rifle bolt compared to the tired old cogbox with worn syncros. And the brakes, they've got a servo, aaand it's got a petrol powered heater. High spec wins, just check out the headlight washers - with electric pump. Fucking luxury.

  • Gorgeous.

  • Wow. This thread has died a death hasn't it!?

    Just to re-ignite...

Roger Green (of Evo Magazine) barely escapes from an Exige as it melts around him.

I was in the Paddocks when this happened, luckily enough with a few of the evo guys. Green gets back and immediately downs a bottle of Bitburger. Shaky, shaky hands.

First trip for me to the Ring for the 24hrs. Highly, highly recommended.

  • How did Chris Harris do?

  • How did Chris Harris do?

Really fucking well actually. his car managed 13th. He was driving an almost stock 911 GT3 RS and they placed one above a 911GT3 Cup car!!!

Lots and lots of drops. The most disappointing was the 911 GT3 Hybrid that Manthey were running. Unexpectedly it was the most reliable car of the race until the last few hours. We went to bed on Sunday morning with the Hybrid running in 1st place at around 0600hrs. We woke up at 1100hrs to find it had retired. No one could tell us whether it was a mechanical or a write-off and I still don't know.

I WILL put up a video of the BMW Z4M GT when I find one.. THE MOST INSANE NOISE I HAVE EVER HEARD.

  • I think I'm going to go to that next year. Been wanting to for a few years.

  • I think I'm going to go to that next year. Been wanting to for a few years.

    We're definitely going next year.

Will be a little more prepared tho. Am thinking we'll take mountain bikes out as well, seems there is a really awesome track all around the circuit; would make it a fuck ton easier to get to decent places. Was far too much fannying around trying to find parking spaces, walking through mud, being scared by moody germans, ending up in the wrong part of the track.

Will probably trailer the track car n as well and stay a few more days after and get in some laps.

I ended up driving all the way back to London as the others were way too fucked. Didn't really drop below 100/110 mph across Europe in a brand new Beemer 7-series. Never have I driven a car that people move out of the way for so readlily! ;)

  • Farmer, you jammy bastard ! How did you land that ? ;-)

  • What, the beemer? A friends. 760. Twin-turbo V12 monster. Good on fuel too! Ring to London on 3/4 a tank. (although that is with an upgraded touring tank!;))

  • I meant getting to go out to the 'ring, watch the 24hr race, hobnob with the evo boys etc.
Although the beemer does sound like the perfect tool for the job ! I never even knew you were into cars......(I don't think)

  • As promised the BMW Z3 GT3

Sounds a LOT stronger in the flesh.

@ Ricky. WTF? We were always talking engines I thought. It's all I know. ;)
