I like it a lot, but then I would. :-)
Where did you get the frame Peter? Is it one of the ones RA Cycles in Brooklyn had. What model is it?
But why would you ever need a triple in Holland?
we have a few mountains! :D

yes. you need the crown race reamed down to 26.4mmish and the headtube (if also JIS) reamed out to 30.2mmish. basically, you just need the headtube and fork crown reamed and faced as would normally be done for an ISO headset.
or just get a jis headset
It's just the fork. Cups are already pressed and all of that is the correct size... the frame is a track bike, but not NJS. think I'm gonna go at the fork with a magic marker, caliper, and file.

thanks. i got it here in holland, i'm not sure what model it is. i suspect a 'due' because it's quite understated, without all the wild panto stuff
about the triple - haha, that came with it when i bought it and will come in handy as I'm planning to go up mt Ventoux late summer, and before that there's the ride Fruit mentioned (there's some climbs in that one that will have you fall off your bike if you don't get in the correct gear before the corner that leads up to it) and of course some more training in the Ardennes, Vosges and Alps before that :)

Getting it cut down to 26.5 (the correct OD to press fit the 26.4 King base plate) with the right tool will be a much better investment in the long term than making a polygon roughly the right size. It might be worth asking CK if they do a 27.0 base plate, they do undersizes to fit over cut steerers and you're unlikely to be the first to ask for an oversize.

yea i get what you're saying, but i'll be fine. here's my thinking....
financial:
The tool costs 500 dollars. CK doesn't make a 27 baseplate, the fork was 80 bucks used, and the local shops are asking for more money than i want to spend on this, considering i'm sure it will be unnoticeable once the thing is fit on there.practical:
i mean really whats going to happen? not centered? not round? meh. I really doubt that my imperfections in shaving off a cunt hair of metal will average out to an oval, and still it's only a fraction of a mm.if the fork were bling/new/custom i'd deffinitely seek out the correct method.

Same here! i had never heard of him a year ago. its basically free advertising, normally people pay good money to have there work photographed all over a site, but here its free and you get all the nice comments to go with the pictures.

To be honest I don't begrudge him the free advertising. The quality of his work is obvious and he clearly is leading the market in bespoke frames so why shouldn't he be successful. Just wish I wasn't saving up for a house deposit!

A certain bikeshop fitted a new headset and forks to a frame of mine. Two weeks later a couple of crimps started appearing at the front of my headtube, one at the top, one at the bottom. These turned into small cracks at which point I took it in to Chas Roberts. He said it was because the headtube hadn't been reamed properly for the headset. A lot of stress going through that part of the frame. I would always get it done properly now as it is cheaper in the long run.

No i don't begrudge him in any way either, at the end of the day he does not ask people to put his work here, its simply that his work is of such quality that his customers want to share his incredible work with us all.
I mean i now really want a titanium frame! never having to worry about rust! -

Somebody got a Chris King fitted to their bagel? I know you get a more even spread of cream cheese if you spin the bagel, but that still seems a bit OTT.
yeah - always good to see some more Casati's around :)
