The whole pastime has gone from virtually zero helmets to 60% > 80% helmets in 12 months thanks to some actress or other falling over on a green slope and dying.
Yet statistically skiing is even safer than cycling with a lower number of fatalities per year for the number of participants per million.
It's also an area in which the helmet debate is an immature one... here we all have counter-arguments, skiers seem to face the religiousness of the pro-helmet brigade reasonably ill-equipped.
