There are road bikes with rack mounts, depends what you want to carry. I think there are some massive saddle bags on the market.

Well probably just a light bit of touring with the Carridice longflap. It's also going to be used for the daily commute 17 miles to and from work so it needs to be comfortable, looking at the Ribble frames will probably go down that route but I just need to pick one.
