As many if you may already know I have sold my old frame and bits to fund my wheels, anyone know where I can order 36 277mm spokes and 36 278mm spokes? Ta
nice one for not leaving (no sarcasm intended whatsoever)
damn, that stills sounds sarcastic...well its not -
• #23728
I've had some kind words through and have realised not everyone is a cunt, so spokes?
-
• #23729
What sorta spokes? Single butted, plain gauge, double butted? What brand?
-
• #23730
Electro... Have a good look at that frame cos the photo looks like it's had a 'header' Fork looks bent back. Check carefully!
Otherwise, a nics bike. -
• #23731
Really don't mind building them on high flange and deepish rim so the build itself will be strong enough

It's a proper track frame from Waterford. The wheels are Mavic Ellipse, so literally all the parts are going to be black.... I'm thinking a cream white frame? Anyone have a bike with all black parts that i can see? Need some ideas for the color of the frame.
All black parts + any bright secondary colour* = piss-your-pants epic
*for the knowledge-impaired these are green, purple and orange
light periwinkle blue.
Light periwinkle blue?! What the fuck is Light periwinkle blue?!

I've bought spokes from all of these shops in the past

https://www.starbike.com/php/product_list.php?prodcatid=31&lang=enStarbike have DT Comps in 276 and 278 at 0.50Eur each, approx £46 for 72 spokes inc. shipping.

For what it's worth Blake, I like your style.
I buy DT Swiss Competition spokes for Parker international.
-
• #23737
Yep, as eei said, SJS is probably your best bet. They do DT swiss in packs of 6, but size wise you'll have to go for 276 and 278 if you get them from there. Doesn't matter if you use 276 instead of 277 though.
The single gauge champions are cheapest at around £36 for your build. But if you want lighter, you'll have to pay more.
Sure you got the right lengths, yes?

nice Serk

• #23739
cycle basket but you would get away with ordering 72x 276 spokes if your calculation is correct...

Not quite all black, but this Steamroller is close to what you're thinking of doing I think.
new steed andy?

• #23741
That's not mine. But I do have a cream Steamroller sat in the dining room, waiting to be built.

Pulled the weirdo bike apart, so now it's weirdo frame-only..
Only part left from it's "glory-days" seems to be the headset, Dura Fuckin' Ace! in good condition, almost worth the £50 i payed for the bike ;)
Even though the design is terrible it annoys me a bit that some asshole drilled the BB-shell, the trackends and the brake bridge to fit a mudguard.
I wonder if the bike has been stolen from some poor rider at some point in it's life.. I guess I'll soon find out as I have mailed the photo of the frame to the builder, and plan to call him tomorrow to ask him about it..
The color matches the yellow Mavic disc perfectly.. ;) haha..

yea mine will look "different" just because my frame is tighter and i have all all black parts. but yea. those ugly wheel labels come right off, if the owner of the bike is interested in that.
anyway just spoke to the painter. If i'm going powder coat I have to stick to darker colors otherwise it will look like plastic. I really don't like powder coating for that reason, but he assured me that darker colors will look almost identical to paint, so i think I'm going to do with a very deep dark dried blood color. black decals.
