Agree. I prefer the external BB too and only realised how much I like Q factor to be as narrow as possible when I foolishly liked the look of the BMX cranks and put some on my Scissor. It felt like riding a horse!
One ride and I put my road cranks back on and that was even using a narrow MTB sized BMX axle (5.25 inch)
Bit of an expensive experiment but nevermind...
