  • ^^ yep, exactly.

we've been through months of negotiations with the authorities on this. the riders packs you pick up contain riding numbers, which you have to be wearing to get into where the ride starts, our enclosed area in the park for tea and the final venue.

  • is it possbile to ride with the crowd and have no registration?

  • I thinks it inevitable once a ride becomes popular then its organiser will have to deal with the Police and the local authorities. Well done Teddy for doing so.

The Friday Night Rides to the Coast faces the same problem of popularity and , I fear, so might the Dunwich Dynamo one day. The latter has so far have escaped official attention.

Mind you Simon , who runs the FNRTTC , does so as an official CTC ride and performs full risk assessments etc . He also has the CTC membership to fall back on.

There is , of course , no reason why you should not ride around town in tweed on any other day of the year . Coppi that does it all the time.

  • question. im visiting from seattle and was wondering is the FNRTTC every friday?if so would like to join in for a ride i'll be there atleast two weeks maybe three.

  • considering how many people missed out on the event this and how big its getting, have ever thought of doing it twice or three times a year or too many complications?

Would be more work for Teddy, but would the satisfy the demand.
One more gutted couple here :(

  • With all this ranting and raving it's a dissapointment that no one has shown any support for Teddy who has organised this event in his own time & effort, and probably his own expense.

It has been made clear from the start that there were only 400 places & after all the press from the previous event there was bound to be a lot of interest.

At the end of the day it is not just for fun but for a good cause so if you did'nt get in then make a donation to the charity to show your invlovement and support.

Thanks for all your hard work Teddy

  • ^ well said. I have a moustache I don't need anymore now if anyone wants it. It is ginger but it might be of use to someone once the tears have dried :-(

  • I could actually do with a ginger moustache.

  • pm me and I'll post it, its roughly 65mm wide to fit an 18mm top lip, some grey but you can probably leave that out when you rebuild

  • I think flak comes with organising any event, but in my opinion no organiser deserves it. Teddy has created a fun and highly desirable event, and those who didn't manage to register are always going to be gutted. On the Saturday, I missed watching my kids swimming lessons because I hovvered over the computer waiting to register. The kids swimming is very high on the Family Lucifer priority list - I missed it because I would have puked a kidney if I'd missed out on the Tweed Run. The people who registered made registering a priority - there's no point buying an outfit, a bike, a plane ticket, then somehow fuck up when it comes down to registering. Teddy did a sterling job of advertising the event on Twitter and the forum, he couldn't have possibly done any more. Those who got places did so through a bit of forward planning, although I am gutted for those who missed out.
My advice: save the tweed, don't screw up the event this year for those registered by gatecrashing the event, and be ready next year for the 1000 strong 2011 Tweed Run.

Just want to say, oh thanks, Teddy!

  • By the way, if anyone wants to offer Lucifer there couch for Fri/Sat night, then I'd be very grateful.
I'll provide and cook breakfasts both mornings.
At a push, I suck cock, but don't really like it.
    It's usually smelly.

  • well put and well said.can you imagine what next year might be like?

  • Would be more work for Teddy, but would the satisfy the demand.

...thou nothing stops anyone else from pulling together something simular I suppose. Best option would be if a group of people went together for it I would say.

Oh and a great thanks to Teddy, I hope I'll make it next year:)

  • Well I didn't make the cut, but thank teddy for organising this.

May make it an excuse to photograph the riders.

  • Pervert.

  • Pervert.

    Its the tweed effect.

  • cheers. much appreciated... talk about a fucking thankless task...

  • +1. Well done for organizing it and it's obviously testament to what a good event it is that demand was so high. Didn't get registered for it but will try and come to watch the event ! Roll on 2011 !

  • I think Teddy has done a brilliant job at organising the event. The whole entry process was effortless, but I imagine that I lot of work went into it behind the scenes.

Can't wait and really looking forward to it!

Is anyone getting down early? As I'll be down from Norwich quite early.

  • I don't think anyone, including me, meant any ill-feelings towards Teddy during the rant period. Of course I appreciate that it is a lot of effort, and Teddy deserves all the praise he has got/ will get during and after the ride. Thanks Teddy. But it doesn't make it any less disappointing to be excluded from this on the basis of numbers, that's all.

If I had a couch, I'd be all over this. Alas, we don't, and anyway my flat is strictly funny-business free; I do that on company time.

  • is it possbile to ride with the crowd and have no registration?

It will be, but only do this if you hate Teddy and want to see him fucked up with a huge fine and potentially a criminal record.

I have to ask, why do you want to do that to Teddy, what has he ever done to you? Teddy is one of the finest gentlemen on this planet and deserves nothing but appreciate and to be lauded as spiffing as any man can be. Also I will hunt you down and put your head in a horse's bed.

  • The Friday Night Rides to the Coast faces the same problem of popularity and , I fear, so might the Dunwich Dynamo one day. The latter has so far have escaped official attention.

Actually it hasn't. I think you'll find that Barry Mason and Patrick Field have been contacted by the police about this. Fortunately, like Critical Mass, this happened after the ride was able to be classed as common and customary and therefore difficult to regulate against. Don't think that attention isn't being paid though. I saw a handful of officers wandering around at the start of the last one. It's a tribute, mostly to good fortune and the fact that a handful of serving officers like to participate that it still goes ahead unhindered. Any more trouble with the crowds getting out through Hackney and there is a real risk that they might start throwing their weight around.
