Hi all, first post an all that.
I'm commuting from East Sussex to the London through the week which involves a bike at each end of a train journey! I've moved from mountain bike to hybrid to racer to my first fixed (road conversion). Nothing special but am enjoying it. I like tinkering with stuff and bikes are easy to work on indoors. Built a few wheels now and on the look out for more frames to play with.Paul

Hey Paul,
If you enjoy riding it, its special! Soon youll have a house covered in bikes.
If you get a chance, you should do some of the organised rides - youll love them.Long time reader 1st time poster...I cycle to work through central London sometimes on a fixie sometimes geared.
Welcome to the party!

hi guys i am also new to this site! i am currently well into my mountain biking and have more gears than sense! Really got into the idea of building up a single speed for me to get to work! got really fed up of riding my mud caked bike into work the day after a good ride! really like the retro look with lots of shiny chrome bits! I cannot beleive the prices of the frames though! Is it possible to get a frameset under £200???
i have seen the on one stuff but would like to try something different!Any thoughts?
Cheers

I'll be keeping an eye on the organised rides. Hadn't really considered doing any distance on the fixed before. I figure I need a geared bike and at least one fixed?!

Come on the night ride to Brighton, if you don't mind writing off your Saturday evening/Sunday morning lie-in.

Howdy... I'm new to the site, but been reading for a while. Even bought a nice frame off here last year. I've been riding a racer I built around London for the past few years, but (finally) bought a new track bike last week as Herne Hill opens saturday and put quite a few miles on it already to get used to it, and riding fixed is so far brilliant! Coasting is such a bad habit!

..... two posts away from asking a burning question about a burning issue.....

See a doctor about that. 1 or 2 pills and youll find the burning stops.

Flipped my hub this morning and had my first fixed cycle into college. Felt beautiful alright, but I couldn't for the life of me get into my second clip...Is there a technique to it at all?
Well happy with the bike though, once I get used to it I'm sure I'll love it.

Maybe try and match the rotation of the pedal with your foot.
You mean on the outside of the pedal alongside it? Or follow it as it goes around just outside the clip? And what o'clock, shall we say, do you clip in?
-
• #2669
normally flick it with your toes down and then it rotates lift your foot up and you should slide in.... I couldnt do it so i got SPDs. Much easier!!!

Just put your foot on the pedal, and pedal away. Don't pick a point to clip in, rather clip in as you pedal.
Think I'll take it out one of these nights when the roads are empty and get used to clipping straight in as I set off. Any suggestions of nice pedals & clips? The stock ones on the bike are both annoying and ugly, so I'll definitely replace them.
