I don't really want to get too involved in this discussion however I was working less than 20m from the site of this accident when it happend and although I didn't witness the entire thing 3 of my coleagues did (1 being the first person on the scene) and the sound of it and the sight of the aftermath is something I'll never forget.
In my oppinion this was a tragic accident and nothing more and although the HGV didn't have the correct mirror the driver was no ogre and was only as negligent as I was this morning when while driving to work I didn't look over my shoulder when changin lanes I only checked my mirrors. Infact feel incredible sympathy for him I don't beleive with any amount of counciling a day will go past with out the effects of it living with him.
