I don't think so, even with something that looks like it matches perfectly, you get about 2% of contact area on a microscopic level. then again you can splice it in a zigzag from the top and get 4/5 more contact area. Designing the rig for perfect alignment could be fun. Do you recon it's worth a try?
Mind, it might be easier to cut you seatstay and weld it back...
