  • Is that a coaster brake on the back?

  • looks likee

  • Is that a coaster brake on the back?

    Yep.

  • Yeah mate, that's rad. I'm thinkin of building a bike with a coaster

  • best to put a strip of rubber between the clamp and the frame to stop it getting damage when engaging the coaster brake.

  • @ ganster crumpets
sweet little ride, had those levers on an old mtb, i really liked them

  • @Chris - do it! It reminds me of being an 8 year old again....epic skiddzz....
    @Edscoble - great idea - will do
@Jambon - cheers. I found them for $5 in a parts bin. Have big hands, lever is perfect.

  • What is a frame with that geometry like with a coaster brake??

What is a frame with that geometry like with a coaster brake??

Pretty good - stops on a dime. The dog thinks she's some sort of huskie, so I need F&R brakes.

  • New bars...

    Great job!
Same bars as mine : D

  • This is really nice! I'm gonna turn my converted FG into a coaster bike soon. looks comfy too.

  • Oh it is, really relaxing around town, the best coaster hubs you can get are from Bikefix and it cost £20 including cog.

  • they are pretty heavy though?

  • it's more or less on par as a rear brakes (brake levers, cable, brakes, freewheel, hubs, etc.)

it's barely noticeable, and because the hubs is on the centre of the wheel, you won't 'feel' the weight.

  • safe.

  • **@ Gangsta Crumpets

Other than the Coaster Bake, what's the wheel/hub/tyre combo? Like it a lot.

  • ok - here's my first single speed attempt.
holdsworth super mistral, with a decent amount of chrome...

^ nice holdsworth, the chrome fork/stay combination is classic.
good to see both brakes too

thank you - it cost me about £75 all in - including £50 for the paintwork

  • For some reason the back wheel looks tiny. Are the wheels both 700c?
