Well unfortunately that's how businesses, especially those that rely on word of mouth such as Vaz's, work. If you tell unhappy customers to fuck off then it will inevitably catch up with you.
Unlucky Mr. Vaz.
I find it a little disturbing that people (not you specifically) are so happy to take one persons word over the reputation of Vaz...
who knows what was actually said? and why? some times frames just fucking go wrong, you are talking about high tensile steel tubes that has had 25 years of battering, eventually, they fail just like everything else.
He has been painting bikes for 21 years, and boom all of a sudden every tom, dick, tarqiun and cressida, is an expert on bikes, and finishing, and brazing....NOT ...if he was 'rubbish' then he would have closed down an aeon ago...He has been around, he's not a fool and hates to be treated like one. I'm sure that some people go into his workshop and think...pokey, dirty, hhmmm...he's foreign, it's not an oasis of celeste green wipe down surfaces...
and not...He's been doing this for ever, his brother is really good, I'm sure I can trust him, I had better not act like some jumped up little wanker....oh...I did.
People are constantly comparing powder coating to paint, and thats just because they are ill educated.
They don't know their cellulose from their two pack from their acrylic...
Powdercoating has always a been the coating that did what paint didn't...ie not chip.
It is limited in how you apply it and the finishes achieved, and if the experts that knew anything about anything, did actually *know something...*they would give Vaz some of the credit he deserves.
He does a bloody good job for the money. End of.
I would much rather take a bike to his workshop for the experience, and see all the precious tin hanging from the ceiling ...which isn't some homogenised and soul-less place, which eventually it may become as he was driven out of business by some stupid bloody thread that was easy to google.
I think we should start a thread that also merits him, as having to trawl through 3 pages of rubbish, isn't really fair to the man.
to stay in business for 21 years in such a niche industry as frame painting, isn't acheieved with luck...
I have 3 frames coming back soon, I shall post them.
