i'm amazed you bothered. i've only experienced about one friendly/competent bus driver in the last 25 months of living down here. i don't even know where they hire them from.
once had one who refused to speak to me. just stared at me, no matter what i said.
began with asking 'can i pay in cash, my oyster has run out?' and finished, several questions later with 'do you actually want to have your wages paid, you pitiful wanker?'fucking love this bit by the way-
'The driver’s future behaviour will be monitored closely to ensure that this was an isolated incident and not a regular feature of his work.'
haha! makes it sound like he's a musician or something! -

Out of interest DJ, any idea what route this bus was?#
And who actually sent the letter? TfL or the bus company? Also, what's this all about?
behaviour of a private hire driver
Private hire?

Aaah, just did a search on the reg. number and see it's a minicab driver, not a bus driver.
2 months is still shit though

sorry i make so many reports of shit drivers that i lose track of who did what!
this was a cabby who did not appreciate my presence on the road and tried to ram me into the kerb a couple of times
when i started shouting his registration number he drove off pretty quickly

I had the same thing, got on, swiped oyster - no money on it so i said to the driver how much is it? ...after a 13sec staring pause he said "...um it doesnt matter if you go 1 stop or 12..." "yeah, but how much is it mate?" "......umm your oyster doesnt have any money on it" "yeah I know, how much is it?" "....umm" "How much will it cost me to get on the bus?" "..uuum oh 2 pounds"
lucky I had some pound coins or I could have been there for another 45 min while he took his shoes and socks off to count the change from a twenty

You need a witness to back you up and to make them take note of the complaint.

Barring the time it took to reply, after reading your first post I though, ok..not a great result, but at least they claim they're going to keep a closer eye on the driver in question.
But after hearing that the driver intentionally tried to run you over, this Rita's comment of 'a single lapse in standards' is just insulting. a single lapse of standard should imply that the driver didn't look properly or didn't signal or something mildly unintentional rather than actually intentionally trying to run you off the road which would take severe concentration and malice!...scum sucking whore

I think muleboy is right and you need to talk to Rita as one lapse could mean someones death next time or in this case the drivers second lapse, ask Rita how would she feel if a family member was killed by this driver that she had just allowed to carry on driving his bus?
Maybe a program of anger management and calming exercises for drivers should be implemented and this could be suggested to Rita, I'll leave this with you as you are better with words then I am as if it was me the driver would still be receiving medical care ;p

Atleast you got a reply, I complained about a driver who was obviously drunk or suicidal.
another bus driver cut in front of him and blocked him and had a word. he then took off again went the wrong side of the road to pass cars and then drove straight through a round about which he was supposed to turn at. everyone promptly got off the bus at the next stop. I got nothing back from TFL -

I haven't read any of this thread, not even the thread title, I am drinking very cheap red wine so do not have to, but I agree with some people and the rest are bastards.

I was thinking, if I should write it or not, but as it's Friday night...
One of my neighbours is a private hire driver. The worst one I've seen for ages. He can't even park his car without bumping into another car. At least once a week leaves mark on my bumper.
Guy was almost knocked out by my other neighbour who's Volvo he dented.
Now, apparently he's being seen by a mental health nurse on top of that and he's not allowed to get stressed (sic!).
You get involved with a Toyota Avensis in E. London, let me know :-) -

Just made a complaint to tfl about a bus driver meeting me at full pelt on Graham rd while overtaking another bus, in my lane with a few feet to spare each side.
Guess it'll be 2 months til I hear something
reported a cnut bus driver last year
2 months it took them to respond

Dear Dancing Twat (ok i edited this bit),
Thank you for your e-mail of 8 December, regarding the behaviour of a private hire driver on that same date. Please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in replying.
Your complaint has been investigated which involved providing the driver with a copy of your complaint (data protected, no personal details given).
The only sanctions available to us are to issue a warning or to suspend or revoke the driver’s licence. As you can appreciate the loss of a licence deprives a self-employed individual of the ability to work at their chosen profession and could be seen as disproportionate in respect of a single lapse in standards.
Nevertheless, complaints are recorded on driver’s records and if a pattern of complaints and poor behaviour emerges, a driver’s continued fitness to remain licensed is reviewed. If on the balance of probabilities, the Licensing Authority feels that the driver’s conduct is not satisfactory his licence may be suspended or revoked.
The details of this letter together with yours has been noted and placed on record. The driver’s future behaviour will be monitored closely to ensure that this was an isolated incident and not a regular feature of his work.
I am sorry that you should have had cause for complaint, and thank you for bringing the matter to our attention, as it is only with the public’s help that we can address concerns and raise standards within the private hire industry.
Yours sincerely,
Rita O'Shea
