... which hand position(s) you're trying to replicate from your normal drop bar bike. If it's not the hook of the drops, then you're really wasting your time with a lo-pro ...
yeah, I am sort of thinking about that. I feel queasy using the drops on my 70s track bike as that means my front brake is out of reach should I need it. (never managed to skid on the red stuff in bus lanes). a lo pro with straight bars and one of those modern stems could be the answer?

No, a proper drop bar brake lever would be the answer.

all very well, but that doesn't help me with my riser barred lo-pro :-)
If you put risers on a lo-pro, there is nothing I can do to help you; you need a psychiatrist.

fasih....
please check frame for cracks, when i started building fixed i had two equipe's fail on me, ie tubing went ! i had not really checked them when stripped. the are only 18-23 cromo, not the most forgiving steel in the world -

loving that red gazelle pistoffski, gonna be a sweet build.
put my replacement for the Copacetic together on Saturday and managed to clock up forty miles getting round town that day. and been riding it since and it feels good. light (7.7kg) and stiff. don't really need to change it much though my Chesini will need the seatpost back when track opens. thanks to skoota for the bars and konjin for the stem. and the most dire thanksgiving to the good lord for giving us all the blacktop.
I see, so this will get real handlebars and be your o'10 track bicycle! nice one J

@slowstephen - thanks for the tip. Since I'm a big bloke, the frame had me a little worried from the start. Since this is very much my first SS experiment, I'm not that tied to the frame. If in a few months I have to shell out for a new frame that is fine.

No bling-bling but a workhorse.
All old stuff, so perfect for a winterbike.
Finished my winterbike and the first time I rode on the pavement this year (commuting to work, 40-45km one way), I was glad I had it.
Last wednesday, clean roads in the morning, but plowing through > 5cm fresh snow in the afternoon.Singlespeed (not fixed) with "magic gear" 42x15. 1st attempt was nearly perfect.
Non-European alu 6061 Giant OCR Touring frame and fork (USA model of 2003 or so)

Designed as touring/travel bike with disc brake tabs, double bottle holder bosses, dynamo threading, holes for lighting wire, bosses for spare spokes on LH chain stay, carrier & low rider attachments, internal cable routing
Nexus dynamo hub (performance type with QR) front with Mavic CXP22
Gipiemme rear wheel with poor lacing pattern, freehub, 15T cassette sprocket

FSA alu "wing" bars (I hate them, but these were for free)
Campagnolo Record brake levers (ONCE pro team, Ergopower shape, for TT bikes)
Avid Shorty 6 canti brakes
Shmn headlight (poor light, but it looks idiot proof)
LED tail light EUR 3.50 or so
Shmn SPD's M747 or the like

Seller said - Beautiful Belgian built classic road race frame, it was built and has been in storage until now, it has never seen paint, it boasts Campagnolo ends to the rear and fork ends. The rear end is 126mm top tube ctc 54cm seat tube ctt 54cm. Nice lugwork throughout. A very nice frame with the opportunity to style it in your own way from scratch.
Nice Jonny. If it were mine I'd put a black chain on and have nmsw rims but other than that, spot on!
Get some stickers on it though ;-)
