knob haha! Yeh I used to think eveything he made was badass too, it's not, here's a list of failed products (not to mention his old custom frames):
gland 1/2 (using a shoelace to hold on a hubguard???)
wombolts (up to v3 already)
elementry stem (v3 also, the first ones cracked or only fitted odyssey forks)
His new rachet hub (not cassette????), ok i'll give him that and the marmoset too and the rims as well.
But oh I forgot - Plegs haha!!!!
He also said he would never make 36 hole hubs.
Anyway yeh, he definately got a lot of BMXers through a difficult mid-school stage. But thats it, his products aren't any better than anyone elses.
I've never met him personally, he might be a gen up guy. From what I've been told though, he's weird.
I think you're missing the point. He said he would never make a cassette hub or 36 hole hub UNTIL he could design one that could withstand the necessary forces. Which he did. What's the problem?
The shoelaces mod for the GLAND2 was actually genius. Zip ties were too brittle, they kept snapping, a shoelace allows the GLAND2 to flex and move when under stress and thus not break. Name me a better hubguard?
I've had a V1 Elementary since they 1st came out, still going strong, as is my GLAND2. You have to remember a lot of people who break parts are little 15 year old kids who have no idea about bike maintenance or fitting. They just hammer shit on and then whine when it breaks.
PLEGS solved the concrete park grinding problem that was in the USA. You probably never got chucked out of a park for grinding so you don't realise the issue these solved.
And like PGM my Homer is solid as fuck and rolls forever. Still going strong after 7 years of really sketchy street riding.
