Threadneedle Street used to be called Gropecunte Lane which was a reference to the prostitutes that worked there.
I don't think it was; Grape St in WC2 is also said to have been called Gropecunt Lane but it was quite a common street name in the Middle Ages.
I do know, though, that the Bank Of China has its headquarters in Threadnoodle St.
