Really nice collor sceme that frame has, not a real fan of white components on MTB's to be honest. I'm shopping for a costum rigid singlespeed 29er for a while now and Spot crossed my mind a couple of times. I'm currently riding this: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3113/3188336789_be7176e5f2_b.jpg and am thinking about a simular geometry. Really looking forward on riding a steel rigid.
What were you riding previously? Do you got any experience with the X2 Race Hope's already, saw a sweet deal on the normal hope tech X2, still am in a bit of a doubt. Anyways, hope you'll have some good fun very soon!
I've been watching this one with a bit of jealousy. Looks like great fun, and the belt drive is a cheeky idea. Let us know how it rides.
I'm going crazy waiting to take it out, to see how it rides myself. There's alot going on TBH.
[]The frame is not an OTP Spot but a custom handmade 'Longboard', which is bloody light for a steel 29er frame, and made from a selection of high end tubing. Should be a nice riding frame.
[]The 29er geometry is interesting, to say the least, when applied to someone as vertically challenged as myself. But the fit feels spot on (need some km's in the saddle though).
[]The belt drive feels seriously smooth, and is complemented by the fast pick up of the trials hub. The drivechain feels very responsive indeed.
[]Its fully rigid (as 29ers should be IMHO), with a very light front end. Hopefully the big hoops and fat rubber will smooth out the trail some.
[]The wheels are as light as I dared make them, all things considered. The Velocity Blunts are very light for their width, and are laced with a mixture of Revolution and Super-comp (disc side) spokes, to light weight pro II hubs.
[*]The finished bike is very light (<8.5Kg), due to the carbon fork, lightweight wheels, lack of gears, belt drive etc. Hopefully this together with the traction from the large tyres should make it a good climber.
I know its a bit off to bang on about your own bike like this (sorry), but I've been putting this together for a while, and am going nuts waiting for the trails to defrost. With any luck, I wont have fecked it up, so that I can start entering some local XC/mountain trail events with it.
That looks like a lot of fun!
