...and the words 'charity ride' being repeated by peds - wtf?
My favourite was "fitness week".
This was my first ever group ride in 8ish years of cycling, only really ridden alone before so it took some getting used to. Found it a bit slow/awkward/cold at first but the Barbican and latter half were great.

The residents' association at Barbican will have noted your visit, and the 'Barbican Talk' forum will be alight with fretful worryment as we speak. They be hatin on skaterz and you guys are like punks and that.

I didn't see this but I have noticed a gradual increase in the number of people riding bicycles on the highwalks. I haven't said anything to those that I've seen so far but I am tempted to say something next time, although I wonder if some people know they aren't allowed but do it anyway - a bit like those cyclists who jump reds and ride on the pavement. Is there anything that the local police can do? Or is there a way that signage at least could be increased/made more prominent? Alternatively we could cover the podium floor with spikes!

funny to see iain have his lockring come off 3 times in one ride.
cheers for the beers chaps! If i was one that gave you a beer, no probs! I ended up having my chain come off, lock ring issues (ive now flipped my wheel as i think the thread must be wrecked on that side) and handlebars became loose which i could tighten mid ride (dude - who ever you are, speak up - i owe you a beer kind sir!). Strangely they were all linked to the lock ring issues i had. But to me, that added value to this ride! The funny thing is normally i tend to fall of quite spectacularly, and this time i only fell over once cause a ped walked in front of me when i was nearly stationary and i lost my balance.
My knees today are fucked though...

A great ride and perfect in all measures - the number of stops, the pace, the good company. So glad I did it before I leave London to do some travelling.

Skimming that forum I get the feeling they might be scared of cyclists: http://www.barbicantalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6279

you said a funny!
Cheers MA3K, excellent ride.
Sorry Wools but the Barbican was a highlight. Dunno where your lot went but after Finsbury Circus we grouped outside Moorgate station, went the in the entrance, up an escalator, through a courtyard, up a ramp, over a bridge and then we were in. Racing round the walkways, through corridors with low level lights flashing past, slaloming flowerbeds, skidding on the slippy brick surface.
