Removing decals from under lacquer

Right, i've read through this thread a few times, and no-one seems to have posted their results of stripping a Charge Plug's decals. I have the Chrome racer, and i've decided it's time for the decals to go.
Has anyone been successful in this? I'm going to give the hair-dryer technique a go, and then, if unsuccessful i'll try edscobles technique...
Ed, if you're reading this, did you put the paint-stripper just over the decals, or did you pretty much do the whole frame?

sorry to bring this back up, did you have any luck with getting of the racers decals?
