if you like Russell Howard you can find a billion more exactly like him in every student union bar nationwide.
I guess I'm being harsh....its kinda difficult to hate someone who is devoid of any type of personality.
exactly, and not harsh. Generic ubiquitous smug twat

I had Kevin Bridges at the very first night of my club last March - 12 people in the audience. Two weeks ago he sold out His Majesty's Theatre in Aberdeen...something like 1200 capacity......I doubt I will get him back again! The guy is only 22, been doing stand up for like 6 years. What I really like about him is that his material is pretty world weary and dark for someone so young....most comedians of his age it's all about living at home with their parents etc.
Kevin is a class apart - he will be massive.
is Kevin Scottish? i'm trying to remember if he's the person i'm thinking of.
I really love seeing Doug Stanhope live, he's one of the few people i will go out of my way to try and get tickets for. i'm fairly lazy about trying to find new comics or going out to see stand up, i always mean to catch more of it, because there are quite a few good comics out there.
I have seen a few good little comedy nights since i've been down here, sketch comedy more than standup usually though.

I'm a huge Eddie Izzard fan, his more surreal stuff is fantastic and I love the way he fits so many movie/music references into his shows.
And of course who can't love Billy Connolly & George Carlin, just fantastic.

aye, that's exactly who i'm thinking of. i did google him after saying that of course and was too lazy to edit.
Raymond Mearns is another Glasgow comic (albeit older) who's quite funny. And i do have a bit of a fondness for Limmy.
also, Youtube videos don't embed on my work PC, so i won't notice it getting posted.

Ok. Not awesome, ok. It's often hard to tell until you see someone live with their own segment/show though. They often tone it down for tv or when they're guesting for someone.

my personal favourite stand up is Dylan Moran
though he doesnt get nearly enough air time
and since they banned him drinking and smomking on stage his act has decreased, but the man is hilarious still -

I love Black Books. My mate has seen Moran and Bill and said they were both great.

Saw Moran a couple of months ago and while it was a decent set, it was incredibly short and he really seemed like he wasn't that interested in the gig, I'm a massive fan but I felt pretty short changed at £37.50 a ticket!
Shame as he is an excellent comedian. -

Well this weekends comedy was great!
Saw Richard Herring do 'Hitler Moustache' on Saturday night. It was a really great show, had a few preachy moments but all for a very good reason due to the subject matter. The audience seemed a bit shit though. He had plenty of routines that were fantastic but didn't get much of a reaction. I have a feeling had it been Stewart Lee up there saying some of the same stuff, half the audience would be pissing themselves....shame really. Got a free Hitler moustache at the end of the gig too, so an added bonus! Then I saw Tim Vine on Sunday night, now I know his style of unrelenting puns isn't to everyones taste, but you have to give the guy credit for what he does. He must have told a few hundred jokes throughout the set, to remember the volume of material he does is just amazing.
Very very silly jokes but there are just so many of them that once you start laughing you find it hard to stop! He also did 'pen behind the ear' for the encore which was both utterly shit and genius at the same time.YouTube- Tim Vine - Pen behind the ear...
I think pen behind the ear is one of those things that 'works' much better live, as you can't quite believe that it's part of his act. Paying to sit and watch a guy try and catch a biro behind his ear..... -

Saw Dave Gorman last week. He was a bit average to be honest. Considered not going back in after interval....that's not good is it?
