• Had a delightful afternoon yesterday in Upper Wraxall chatting with Robin Mather about my new ti road frame.

I already have my Cyclefit data which he is happy to use. He and I have a similar idea that the frame should be built for fit and function primarily, aesthetics relegated down the list. My basic brief was a road bike for racing and sportives. When it came to geometry etc I felt no need to dictate anything as WTF do I know about tube angles etc.

Last year he built his new jig for the ti frames, fully adjustable he can dial inthe contact points to fit and it had all manner of connecting tubes for the argon gas.

Lead time is a few months so will have to be patient.

The other joy was cycling around roads I did not know with some serious hills - a 1:4 hill coming out of bath was a bitch to get up. It was totally exhilarating seeing new vistas rush past at speed on the descents and have the time to take in the view whilst gurning up hills on 48:19. Oh and Rob has great cake too!

I bought my serotta because I like their dropouts, cake was the clincher with Mather- I lie he got the deposit over a month ago but cake would have been the deciding factor.
